Ryan, yes those guys ran OPT in '90-'92, along with Allez Vite. Three 41 Apaches against a bunch of cats, and Reggie in the Ohio Steel Fountain. Great times!

41st did have some serious reliability problems, but not because his motors were particularly "Wild." Rather, they were home-built by a buddy of the owner (who never actually got in the boat for races: had his buddies do it), but I think the engine guy's experience was with cars, not boats. When he ran, he was about the same speed as Meanstreak, which had the same C & G 1000's we ran. Both were a couple of ticks slower than Allez Vite, for some unexplained reason.

When we (along with Ohio Steel) switched to Merc 1000's in late '91, the other Apache's had stopped racing, probably because it was increasing clear that no amount of hoursepower was going to help us beat the Skater 40's. That was the end of Vee's and Cats racing against eachother in the same class.

I can only imagine what it would have been like if we had today's hull technology for the Vee's back then. Sure would have been fun to run a 130 MPH Skater 39V against those cats! Back then, it would have been a "Cat-Killer" for sure!

If memory serves me Leopajm / BRD used that particular boat as inspiration to build his Own Saber red.

Hence picking on the color / his own color.

Leopajm's a good guy and respectful of the tribe.

mm ............your right.
And your the last guy I want to argue with.

It's just red though, they have no other similarity's other than the mold they came out of. No grafics or anything of meanstreaks.

I'll leave it at that, I don't mean harm or foul to any of ya.

I wish I was a little "newer" of a new guy actually .

That was simply a "rapp" on my own **** ... a usual BTW .

And ... I'd imagine that whoever the owner is .... he could care less that some guys on a website are chatting about his boat .

Hey Jon ...

Actually , the idea to go with red came from 1. FatBoy (38T/G) and 2. the fact that my lagoon get so ****ty in the summer that all my white bottomed boats get stained on the running surface after a couple weeks of use ....

Jerry,

That's cool,........I was just going off memory in an email you and I shared during the build of your boat. I had stated to you how sharpe red should look and that I didn't ever remember ever seeing a red Apache. And you brought to my attension MeanStreak.
So perhaps it's my fault assuming it was your inspiration.

Sorry about that MM................

Jon
