Drug boat? and grinding the hull sides that far down?

Their work on the other boats looks great, so we should consider that they will do a nice job, but i have never seen all of the gel coat removed to far hull sides even if their was damage...Are they glassing a few layers back onto the hull?

smallblock 09-10-2011 08:18 PM

why was it a drug boat...it should have 4 fuel tanks in back by engines,,and 2 up mid bow ...jenny,s Express had 6 tanks too ...just say,en

Thisi boat was a twin to WARPATH, one raced on would run product or go pick it up back in the day. J Bonz I beliveve had a picture of her up in a rack at the Fort.

hmmm, I will have to try digging those up...

It states it on the web site so must be correct... I would have liked to read about extra oil tanks, my understanding from a source was that when a motor let go they used a air craft oil pump to keep the motors going and just pumped oil through them to get them back to the dock on 2 or 1 or just back to the dock. I guess those guys had to think of everything.

Nykamp 09-13-2011 07:39 PM

yes ..pic updates

I've been trying to get more pics of this project but I guess the owner doesn't want pics of the build process online. I don't know if he saw this thread or the pics from Ilsander Marine but he said, "no more pics online". Really to bad too because it's a pretty interesting project. I guess he's taking a "money is no object" stance on building it right and the end result will be absolutely amazing (if it comes out anything near what Islander Marine routinely produces). I also heard a rumor the owner of this boat owns 2 or 3 other Apaches. Interesting to say the least.
