41 Apache Speed
Hi all. I have a friend of mine looking at an 87, #3 boat with 540/650 HP motors.
The dealer is telling him the boat will run 100 MPH with this set-up. He won't believe me. Will someone please tell him how fast this boat will go with this setup.

I believe thats about the same setup as M.M. and so they say his boat is real light and he doesnt see 100.
people throw 100 M.P.H. when ever they talk about boats like its nothing but get a GPS and youll see its easier said then done.......

Every Apache was constructed differently. Even virtually identical s/s pleasure boats can be 1500 lbs different in weight. Aside from a tiny handful, most ranged from heavy to HEAVY. It would probably take a new set of 1500's on dry sixes to push an '87 pleasure to 100mph. Fresh 650's with a light load on an average pleasure s/s will net you mid to high 60's- possibly breaking 70 if the setup was perfect.
As a point of reference, the Team Apache boat with 500ci Eickert's and 3's ran about 100mph. See it here- The second one in the video:

I use to work on 1987 41 apache side by side full cabin boat,boat had Keith Hazel 572-700hp 3 speedmaster boat ran 80-82 gps,we later rebuilt engines got a little more power around 750 or so boat then went 85 or so,also use to work on 41 apache 850 cobras-6 staggered,6man,no cabin ,crash boxes it ran low 90s,i think most 41 apaches built would need at least 1000-1200hp to get 100mph
