I thought maybe that happened,,, I looked at this boat about a yr ago and it was pretty cheap == read cheap at the time ,,, I agree the paint looks cool but I would rather have new engines and drives than I would to have fresh paint ,,, just my .02 ,,,, I am sure that the 2nd engine has some needs also,

The guy that painted it is out of Az and used to (or still does) paint for Katchina powerboats. Very talented guy in his early 20's I believe.

This boat was originally in Europe and I heard stories it was partially sunk over there at one time.

Hammerhead?

Aside from the paint, everything else on it looks like a nightmare- and that's from the photos. I can't imagine what he could have seen that made the deal less desireable.

I was shocked that the boat brought a bid over $50K.

His whole thing was he has a set of really nice blown P Pfaff 850's and if the drives were fine, the interior was decent and the paint was as nice as it looked he could be into the thing for under 100k. Wasn't the case.

The seller seems like a nice guy, owns another fairly well known nor-tech. The boat is still for sale, so until its sold I don't want to give #'s. I know that it wasn't going to be worth it after having to dump money into it to be in the boat right (i.e. resale)

The first motor blew immediately upon purchase by this owner 3 years ago. I assume the second motor will blow immediately upon the next firing up.

At the time the thought was, if you look at the pics the paint looks flawless. The interior is a start and would hopefully just need some attention. If the drives were ok internally, the engine compartment wouldn't be that big a deal to give the attention it needs, especially if you have motors ready to go in.

The paint wasn't as nice as it appears in the pics. Not bad, just not as nice as it looks in the pics. The interior is just ok (at the most). One drive turned free (no motor attached) the other wouldn't turn until he put the prop on it and broke it free (maybe water? Dont know). There were other little things that needed attention.

To be honest, even after all that, I still think it'd be a good buy at the right price if the buyer had the heart, patience, desire to rebuild it and was a true apache fan that wasn't worrying about breaking even or going into the red. Just my .02 but I love Apaches:D

Exactly my point. Needs someone that wants an apache for the long run and willing to put the time, effort, desire into it.
