http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1991-...QQcmdZViewItem

I copied the link off another site since I don't have access to e-Bay while at work.

Anyone know this boat and who painted it? Thanks.

I can't view e-Bay from work, however it's a 1991 41' with no power but new interior. The paint scheme is really brightly colored?
JPD, your link looks like the one I was trying to copy.

It looks nice from a distance. That bilge shot tells the rest of the story.

The vinyl work is a little on the crude side.

That trailer is scary.

Cool paint !

DirtyMoney 10-02-2007 05:39 PM

This is the boat that was at one of the Poker runs sitting in the water with no power.

baywatch 10-02-2007 08:19 PM

The Bilge is telling quite the story. Why wouldn't you clean that up before you took pictures of it? I don't understand why people do that.

Once I drove 6 hours to check out a boat and the thing looked like it hadn't been washed in two years. Needless to say I didn't get it. and I left PO'd that I wasted a day driving 6 hours each way to see something somone didn't take care of.

I think this boat does have some potential if a guy had a $100k to dump into it.

The guy that painted it is out of Az and used to (or still does) paint for Katchina powerboats. Very talented guy in his early 20's I believe.

This boat was originally in Europe and I heard stories it was partially sunk over there at one time. Don't know the original paint scheme though. In recent years (past 7 years) This boat looked like the picture bellow. It was owned by Jim Neeley in Newport with a pair of 650ish motors (ran low 70s). It was sold to the owner of Savage marine in Lake Havasu Az. the new owner put bigger motors in it pushing the boat to the 90's. He ran it like that for a couple of years and sold it to the current owner. The current owner only used it a couple of times when one of the motors blew. Pissing match insued with Savage marine on who was responsible and in the mean time the boat was painted and interior was done. You think the interior doesn't look good now, you should've seen it before. Dark blue. But the bolsters were bad azz! First bolsters I was ever in that you had to squeeze into sideways or from above to get into. Just screamed I'm a bad motha f*cka and ready for some big water!

If someone had a set of nice motors it would be worth it.

Here's what it used to look like.

RHC

OK trouble maker............forget The Deck...water levels are getting too low and it's not worth taking the chance. We were at HTP on Tuesday, water level dropped more in just 24 hours. Slim pickens around here....it must be time to pull the boat.

texaschopper 10-04-2007 01:33 PM

So would $50K be a good price to pay for the Apache?

Probably not. From what I see, they cared more about getting the outside looking good with little notice to the important parts. The drives have peeling paint and it kinda' looks like they painted around everything on the transom. The upholstery is amateurish $hit. The front tank most likely needs replacing and who knows whether or not the transom is any good- 50/50 would probably be generous. Oh, yeah- that trailer isn't road-worthy with that much boat on it. If you paid 50 for it you'd be another $100K deep in it to make it right. Or more. The $59K short-stagger in the classifeds would be a better starting point.

Look at it this way- you could buy a ready-to-go 41 w/ strong engines & 6's for less than it's going to cost you to get that boat in shape. You could by the KID/Lynch Mob 45 for where you'll finally end up if you made it Apache-nice.

They put little attention into anything else- that leads me to believe they put little attention into prep before they laid that pretty paint on the sides. No matter how nice it it, if it starts peeling or if the cracks it's hiding start to pop, where are you then.

Waiting for diplomatic immunity to give permission on whether this has happened or not! And trust me, I have no idea who the heck you are, only that we're going to be surprised.

I tried and tried and tried to get RHC to spill his guts, but the man, as he should, keeps his word when he says he will.

Just so you're aware Commanche, you're killing us over here! :p:D:cool-smiley-027:
