I am really thinking seriously about it, I think I will drive down to Fort Lauderdale and look at it in January.
And yeah my boy Brians wife drives me crazy, she complains constantly, but he told me she has gotten better since she is medicated now. |

? is she in Ft.Lauderdale or N.Miami. John, by the way had a Formula 302 back in the day twin 330 nothing fancy, but let me tell-ya my 33 Sutphen Outrageous puts it to shame in hull strength; rides like a tank, handles like a dream and solid as a rock. J no offense to any Formula takers I had a ball with it--it is what it is.:boat:

There use to be a sutphen with surface drives down at lake conroe in texas.
I liked it but is was just a three pack if I remember. I hear that glueing the hull and deck together on the older formulas helps quite a bit. |
So true, bonding or glassing improves stuffiness, but thicker hull sides are the real answer no flimzyness on a Sutphen. John, so funny mine is an old Kaama surface drive boat 80+mph, twin 540's N/A approx 640hp a-side. no trl queen here she goes and it shows/rooster tail is incredible ! J ;)

cool:
I love Kaama drves, the boots are getting hard to find though. |
We just cut and stretch old inner tubes over the flanges and tighten up the over size hose clamps no problem  no I have 2-slightly used 1's and my buddy has a brand new 1-4-me. He sold his rig. Plus the pair on the boat, but I am always interested in any parts that might come along. thanks J --- ps the 1 in Texas was it a 30 called Trouble Maker ?
|
I think it was called "Trouble Maker"
I know it was 30 feet for sure. It stayed in a shop on it's trailer when not being used. The innertube idea is a good one, how much power can a kaama take? Could I put Kaama drives on an Apache? Would it work or are Apache's to heavy? |
I think they were rated @ 700hp from the factory, that is when they were in production, which is no longer. You want @ least #5's or 6's on a big 41' -- 3's-3a's and 4's OK as long as your good w/throttles. Like I said any Kaama parts around I am interested. I think I saw a 41' Apache out in Ohio for sale w/#4's or #5's a few mo's ago here on OSO, a staggered set up too. Remember when u-start changing this stuff around your x-dim.can change and it will be nec.to re-fill and cut the transom again. ps is the pink boat in n.miami or ft.L ?
