Just make sure you buy a good strong one! I don't know exact part number/model but Perko makes one that has a nice thick stainless steel lever that wont break and you adjust the deptch of the lever with a nut underneath.

sounds good. Yeah, those factory latches are lucky if they last a day when I replace them. I think this will do the trick.
