What is the general rule of thumb on a 36' apache with respect to power and speed.

I know that with twin 502 Efi's i can get 65 mph out of her consistantly but what will it take to go:



70mph

75mph

80mph, etc?



I am just dreaming at this point but I like to plan projects well in advance. I saw a nice 525efi package in the classifieds with XR's but then got to thinking that with my heavy bucket an extra few hundred horsepower will barely get me over 70mph.

I appreciate your thoughts...

baywatch, I had a '94 36' with 575 HP Eickerts, and it ran about 78-79 MPH. Twin EFI 525HP's in an older 36' should run close to 75 MPH. I imagine twin 700's would get you 85 MPH.

mid/upper 80's w/ 800's...... should be running low 90's but the X is deep.

With 700 hp I ran 81.

tony montana has 575 merc's and i think he run's low to mid 70's

RHC had 600scs and bravos and think he ran upper 70s with that stock setup.

you must know how much your boat weighs to figure this out....the weights vary..as do the 41s.....8500 to 14,000lbs wet are 2 that i know of.....there is a formula that bob uses.........m.m.....p.s..its not how fast it runs....its how long it runs fast.....cya....

I didn't realize the 36's varied that much like the 41's. I will hit the cat scale next time I have it on the trailer. I do know that my 12,000lb poly lifts it with a full tank of fuel.

indio, I like your last phrase and that is part of the reason I haven't messed with anything yet is because the stock 502's are very reliable, easy to maintain, and are really easy on the fuel.

Bobby told me that most of them weigh between 9500 and 10500 DRY.

We had 700 a side in one with 3 drives and it would touch 83-84 on the speedo.
