I'm guessing they will see 95mph with that power when fully dialed in. But the ride itself & handling has got to be outstanding!
What a great powerboat!

Panther 11-22-2011 10:24 PM

If the boat was fully dialed in with labbed props that may be possible but it looks like 90-91 is going to be it.

I spoke with Bobby today about the setup of HH vs. the Chief because I was curious to see how they compare.

Hammerhead has 600 inch blown engines making 940 hp, stock 30" 4 blade props, six pack, staggered, spinning 6K rpm's with a covergirl cabin. She runs 90-91 mph.

The Chief has 588 inch blown engines, 950 hp, stock 32" 4 blade props spinning 6100 rpms, staggered, raised deck, full cabin and cabin liner. She runs just under 100 mph.

Both are heavier and comparable in weight, set up similarly, same bottom with the exception of the steps, similar hp and the Chief is close to 10 mph faster. I don't think the 10 hp is making the Chief run faster so it must be the bottom freeing up some speed.

I have some good baseline numbers for comparison.

Bobby, Hammerhead looks great, excellent job!

I would love to see what Bobby could do with the modern technology of today in a 42 Chief with power selected by him.....a modern day classic.

That 41 looks pretty deep in the water. Does anybody know the weight of it?

It's definitely heavier than yours. :drink:

Does Hammerhead have a cabin? What ratio drives? Wet or Dry sump?

A small cover-girl cabin with no cabin-liner. Not sure on the drives or ratio but you can probably figure it out going backwards with the prop size, rpm and speed.. She's pretty heavy compared to Eric's, I'm guessing 12-14K?

I love this shot. It looks like the boat is trying to eat the people on the dock. LOL

Haha, looks like he rammed the dock trying to eat them! Not my favorite paint scheme on an Apache but still a cool boat.

How can a Kevlar Hull sit so low in the water ??? And, With a staggered set up too !!

kidapache 02-09-2012 10:17 PM

mine dont sit that low that boat must be 15,000lbs

apache17 02-09-2012 10:44 PM

I'm not trying to take anything from the boat , It came out so nice.. I have a Full Kevlar Hull and Deck with 6's and sit really high out of the water. I don't want to think that 41 can be that much weight.. Can it ??

nate 02-10-2012 01:22 AM

My pictures of HAMMERHEAD from KW might be deceiving because the boat is idling. But it appears to sit no lower at idle than TONTO which is also a kevar/carbon 6-pack race set up. Also consider 1500lbs of fuel they can hold

I agree. In general Apaches were all over the map when it came to weight. One will weigh 9K lbs and the other 15k lbs. One has 1/2" plywood, the other has 3/4" plywood. The race hulls were lighter and the pleasure hulls were heavy. Some will run 100 mph with 800's and others barely 100 mph with 1100's.

There's just a lot of politics going on...... :party-smiley-004:

DrGaryDC 02-10-2012 07:55 AM

Yeah, does look heavy in rear, unless he was full in the rear tanks. Does anyone know horsepower and mph, would give us a better idea of weight

Thanks for the info. They did a nice job on Hammerhead, congrats

sean stinson 02-10-2012 10:12 AM

The race boats that I have had with #6's when fueled to the max the drives are under water up to 6" depending on CG but when you come back they are out of the water and you can stand on them without getting your feet wet!!!!! So just keep that in mind for future reference!!! pleasure boat will sink the nose more because of the forward weight and bring the back up out of the water!!!

Don't let the pictures fool you the boats in race set-up without #6's will sit higher because of the lighter weight!!!!!

Hey Kidapache,

Correct me if I'm wrong , but isn't your 41'
a full out "RACE" Apache ?
HammerHead is a pleasure , not a good
comparison I would think.

Got to L O V E these Apaches !!!!!

Great job Bobby !!! Congrats again ....

There's not too many 9000lb Apaches out there in the 41 range....just saying!!!!!

How are you doing Frank????

sean stinson 02-10-2012 10:17 AM

A race 41 with blower motors and #6's full of fuel probably has 3 tons in the engine room at that point!!! And depending on the location of certain rigging the balance point is probably roughly 15' from the transom give or take a little!!!!

Here's a shot of a lightweight w/ 3a's. No blower motors at the time either.

I'm doin well!

Like I said, lots of politics going on behind the scenes with this... But, we can't deny the weights were all over the place with light race, race, 1/2 cabin, fullcabin with liner etc.....

apache17 02-10-2012 01:14 PM

Here is how my 41' with blower motors and 6 drives 3/4 fuel sits in
the water.......
my drives are out of the water up to my tiebar hmmmmmm.....

If you wanna bang heads with me on this one then lets bang heads how much you figure all that junk in the front of your boat weighs and the junk I am referring to is called the cabin and lets talk 3/4 fuel bro.....where are your tanks located?? And if you are a pleasure boat I am pretty sure one of the tanks is up in the front of the boat under the v-berth but I could be wrong I would bet that I am not but I could be....

Now in a race boat configuration there's 4 saddle tanks in the engine room that hold 45-60 gals of fuel each depending on boat but for arguments sake lets go with the 45 gallon tanks that's 180 x 7 = 1260lbs in the ass of the boat alone then you have 2500lbs of blower motors then you have the exhaust which is another substantial amount of weight depending on whose you use lets not forget all the rigging and where it's located some batteries were in the back some not some trim pumps were in the back some not then you have trans and drives and sixes have a 10" setback in the transom assembly so that puts the weight further back versus the 3, 4, or 5 which is closer and lighter.

Again compare apples to apples or oranges to oranges not apples to oranges!!!!

Also if you wanna compare shots look how much farther up your bow is wet than the other boats!!!!

I am pretty sure that I am familiar with your boat thats why I can speak a bit about it not slamming it so dont think I am!!!!
