41' Apache restoration....

The #6's took care of the lope.
So what is it with the infamous Apache lope, the rocker?? Is it just overtrimming by the drivers? I don't seem to have it on my 36' but "some" of the 41's I've seen have it between 50-65 mph and so do a lot of the 47's. A 41' I was on about 10 yrs ago with a short stagger had it a little bit but not so pronounced as some of the others I've seen.

Ok folks, I talked to Bobby and Magnum Mark is correct, the step was added to the bottom but in Indiana, not by Bobby Moore. The step only comes into play at cruising speed and when trimmed right it does not cause a lope, but airs the bottom and gives a more efficient cruising speed, it also dropped the RPM's at 65. You cannot over trim the boat or it will lope off the step. When the boat is above 70, it runs beyond the step like a normal 41 on the rocker. The addition of six drives helped the attitude as well.
The engines are tuned mild around 860 h/p at Cobra. Bobby said the engines have the potential to make a couple hundred more HP but the owner wanted them "de-tuned" for reliability.

You win Mark. I'm fairly certain it was Merrill that did it. Used to see Only Rumours quite a bit on the south end of the Lake...it was nice to see it again at the SBI race in Michigan City this year.
