Asked the question about HIN Identification on Apaches, on a previous thread. Not much response, wrong type of thread.

I was wondering what protected buyers from being sold fake Apaches, given that some of the older boats are worth a few bucks.

Can anyone put a number to various boats using the link to the NOAA Fisheries website. May be an idea to set up an Apache owners database.
I would do it myself if I knew the names. I am looking to purchase an Apache in the future, and wouldn't know a genuine from a fake.

Many boats, some listed below, that I know the names of, don't show up on the USCG records, anyone know why?
I realise this is a search by USCG numbers not HIN, but even so, very few Apaches seem to be documented.

Strange that some Apaches that you seem to be able to identify, have HIN numbers which are not APH or AB8.

the only time that they will be listed on NOAA site is if they are coast guard documented, diff states have different registration. Pretty much most of the ones around have a history and named, so its not hard to follow the lineage. If someone is looking for one it wouldnt be too hard to track down something about it.

What are the HIN's on the Apache's that don't start with APH or AB8 that you know of? They might be Comanche's which were re-branded Apache.

One boat on that list wasn't an Apache, Megatoy was a Comanche.

Anyone got a picture of an original APH Apache HIN plate?

If Megatoy is a Comanche, by McManus, what right does Mcmanus have to use a Comanche HIN?

This boat is Uncle Jobin's 41' Apache that used to be owned by Steven Lief here in NJ, later in Georgia...It's not a team boat.

Not sure if I follow, Comanche is McManus, that's his HIN to use. He also has the APH and AB8's now.

Apologies for my ignorance. I read somewhere that Megatoy was built by Mark McManus, I assumed that it was an Apache.

I take it that a boat manufacturer can have more than one HIN number then, or are they 2 different registered companies? Don't know Mr. Mcmanus's history.

Can any hull be called an Apache then, made by Apache, or only hulls out of an original Apache mold. How does it get the APH or AB8 number?

Check out Sunbiz.org and search the database by name and company owner... McManus Superboats/Comanche, Apache Powerboats, Apache Boats etc. were all seperate companies with different HIN numbers... However, McManus has the rights to the Apache trademark and name so both Apache's are his now and McManus Superboats is seperate....

In addition, Apache Racing Team was also a seperate company...

Depending on which history book you read from, you'll like the news about the company(s) or you don't..
