I have seen "Broken Arrow" in person once and can tell you that pictures don't do it justice. The rigging and arrangement that Tommy and his crew at Chief accomplished on that boat defies description. It is as perfect as a boat can be. Tom Sr. and I were talking about the history and he said that "Apaches are the '57 Chevy s of the Powerboat world...the basis of comparison"....couldn't have said it better. It really takes me back to the days in the '80's when I used to have lunch a couple of days out of the week at Ft. Apache on NE 188th Street...and watch the who's who of Power Boating sit at the bar planing God only know what. Those were great times. I'm reading "Mid Ocean" by Ralph Cimino...a great read. If you are an Apache fan you will love his reference to "Indian" powerboats though out the book. Though I have YET to own one...I think that Apache marks the pinnacle of the conventional Deep V offshore powerboat. |
