Bull Roar

I ALMOST have my wife convinced that this needs to be our family boat. It will fit on our lift, can handle the LOTO waves, has an awesome cabin with A/C and has the lift that her mother could use to get in and out of the boat. The only thing I would do to it is put a giant piece of vinyl that matches the interior on the deck so we don't lose the skin off the bottom of our feet during the Missouri summers.

I know the history of the boat. I was just wondering if anyone has first hand experience with it or has been on it.

Thanks

Brett

Was it as good as it looks in the pictures?

I love that boat, it would be at the top of my list if I ever found $100k lying around. Good luck!

humpster 06-10-2013 04:57 PM

motors and drives redone great shape awesome interior little bit of rash on the hull and rub rail nothing to major , worth a look for the right price

humpster 06-11-2013 04:39 PM

THE 288 KID 06-11-2013 05:08 PM

thanks. not bad for a wave crushing bad boy. like stated i just dont know how you would move around on it and not get burnt badly all the time. especially once people got a few drinks in them

It was 80 degrees at LOTO this past weekend and my feet got burnt on the blue portion of my deck. Can't imagine what black would do.

I have decided to spend my money on a set of spare engines but I really like this boat. I can't believe it's still available. I hope someone on LOTO buys it.

the bear 06-12-2013 09:32 AM

It is on my short list.....but working in construction I have to watch what I spend at this time......hopefully the economy will turn around in the Midwest and industries will start building again...

THE 288 KID 06-12-2013 01:32 PM

my dark blue on my a/t was lethal as well. amazingly the silver interior was just as bad if not worse.

JAIME 06-13-2013 12:52 AM

Wear non marking tennis shoes, Still marks but can be rubbed out and anything can be fixed. Better than having someone dancing around on the bow, slip and get hurt. Seen a boat pulling up to a dock with his lady on the bow with her feet burning and dancing around. She slipped, fell awkward on her side and into the water between the boat and dock. Lucky she wasnt seriously injured.

JAIME 06-13-2013 12:58 AM

Oh ya my boat is also black, just seems like i have to do alot more wiping. BULL ROAR is at the top of my list, just need more coin. Jaime

Griff 06-13-2013 02:15 AM

No way I could handle the black deck. I would paint the deck silver and change the cockpit interior to silver and white with some black accents.

Nate5.0 06-14-2013 07:08 AM

That boat is by far a fav of mine. Love the color layout, power, and cabin.

I agree with Ortho that I would do a interior color match (maybe even vinyl) so it breaks up the black and helps not burn your feet. BEAUTIFUL boat though....definitely a dream like boat.

the bear 06-14-2013 09:25 AM

My guess on speed with the 830hp and the straight hull would be around mid to low 90's but I could be wrong.

No way.....I would be stunned if it cracked over the 85 mph stated earlier.

Boat is unique, the black paint makes the boat so painting/changing it would ruin the boat IMO. Just stay off the deck barefoot, you will only forget to wear shoes once! :D

Both 36 Apaches in the classifieds are cool boats.

Jupiter Sunsation 06-14-2013 09:42 AM

Also note the 20K price cut this week! :D

I missed that post. I guess that doesn't surprise me speed wise, it would be a great boat none the less though, especially at that price.

Why even mess with selling Bull Roar? Just throw it in with the yacht sale and make the new owner deal with it. It would be like me selling my boat and saying I'm keeping my life jackets (literally, I did the math). Wealthy people can just be down right goofy.

Offshore boats as tenders is a rarity so I think there is a broader market separating the two. Owner died last year so widow is relying on brokers to sell everything. Apache is still 15 years old and the yacht is 18 years old so I wouldn't expect huge demand for either, especially with. 250k cruising miles on the yacht......well used.

Orthobam 06-15-2013 08:25 AM

When I called about Bull Roar, everything is going through the Captain. Sounds like he had a good gig while it lasted!

Just noticed "The Chief" 41 Apache also dropped again (down to 85K now)......both of these boats are a lot of bang for the buck, but they are also 15/24 years old and will take big budgets to keep running.

vagrant 07-01-2013 08:54 PM

Did Bull Roar sell. I saw it running down the intercostal close to Hillsboro Inlet.

Orthobam 07-01-2013 09:08 PM

Sold.

Former owner lived a couple houses north of that inlet in an ocean to ICW estate.

Orthobam 07-02-2013 06:23 AM

No. Kicking myself. Called 2 days after big price drop and.......gone. I just hate buying stuff that I have to get on a plane to see. I've had one really bad experience because I didn't get on the plane.

Not too far fetched. A 36 pleasure with 1000's and wet sump 6's runs 103. 800's...Low to mid 80's sounds right.

Anybody know the details on the late owner? Seemed like he lived the dream. Put many hours on his yacht cruising the globe. Running his apache into all kinds of exotic ports for the past 15+ years. Sucks he passes but sounds like he had a spectacular life.

An on a side note, I agree, I would not change one thing about Bull Roar. Perfectly done and a timeless classic.

I went to high school with his son......owner was Donald Flynn and he was the CFO of many of Wayne Huiznega's companies including Waste Management, Blockbuster Video and he created the largest auto parts salvage company in America in recent years (LKQ). He put 300k nautical miles on "Battered Bull" a 180 ft Feadship and diving was one of his passions. He had many offshores from Excaliburs to early Top Guns (one was Bull Roar and had a paint scheme similar to 90 mph paint but it wasn't solid red and the other was "The Waster" a white TG with yellow/gray accents and a hawk logo on the sides)

His oceanfront house just north of the Hillsboro inlet is for sale for 20mm(original list was 40mm) in addition to Battered Bull (25mm at last list price) so the guy had cool toys!

I spoke to "The Chief" Bobby Saccenti today about Bull Roar.. He said he handled the purchases for an old buddy Michael Greenfield who lives in Boca Raton Florida that owned another 36’ Apache back in the eighties. . After a detailed inspection of Bull-Roar Bob said it’s as good as the day he built it. Looks like Mr. Flynn (the late owner) took great care of his toys. The new owner wants Bob to tweak up the performance slightly to meet today’s standards. It's great to see this beautiful classic back and with a new performance attitude.....

Great story! Btw that appears to be Royal Palm Yacht club in the background (I worked there 25 years ago) and Flynn was a member and lived on a canal to the right about 1/3 mile east. So that Apache roamed those same waters with the original owner!

Orthobam 07-09-2013 09:06 AM

Great story. Beautiful boat. Lucky new owner.

the bear 07-09-2013 09:31 AM

Very Envious of the new owner, would have loved to be able to see that boat on LOTO.....Congrats!!!!
