Gucci vs The Chief
gucci is a kramer boat with 6something hp and #3
the chief is a mcmannus boat with 850 blower motors and 3a's need some opinions thanks |
Is the chief listed?
|
the gucci is ready for a redo from the pics
|
The smart buy would be the 2006 Chief with new interior and fresh 950's for 150K. You can go boating and you spent all your money upfront vs. projects with the "unknown factor" and then 2 years later you have a 30+ year old boat, 150K into the redo total (boat price+redo) and the boat still hasn't gotten wet!
|
im pretty mechanically inclined which cuts down on build and repair costs. i can pay cash for the chief or Gucci. i cant for the 2006 and im not a payment kinda guy for toys. trust me the 2006 is the wise choice if finances were available. maybe someday
|
I was on the chief back when Rob had it. I can't speak for whats happened to/with it since, but when rob had it, it was definitly well cared for, you could eat out of the bilge....
|
Bullit say it isn't so , you are going to leave us for the tribe?
WEll if you have to go it is probably the only acceptable choice. RG. |
Rick left cafe in a warrior not a bad transition nor unhappy with either choice. I looked at the chief tears ago for the money was well worth it. Gucci seems under powered over priced for what is being recieved

Bullet if I wasn't this far along with my flat deck I would seriously consider the 90 mph cig. It was for sale a couple of years back without power for a bigger number and we didn't come together on a price . Next to my cig I would love a stagger boat with a pleasure cockpit like the 90 mph boat . I am not 3 or 6 pack boater ( wife and kids) . Who knows with the notch project complete maybe I will just stagger the flat deck. But either way I don't think you can go wrong I truly believe the 41Apache and 38 Cig flat deck are two of the best classic offshore boats ever built.
Cheers Rick. |
Tim I'm ready to deal. To be honest with you, id prefer to sell without the trailer. This boat is a BEAST; ask Doug and the Fort Myer's crew. This boat is complete besides, engines, drive, tran & steering. Tabs, pipes, interior, rigging, motor mounts, dual throttle station, full cover and much more included. This is the boat you want trust me. You want to be different and unique everywhere you go ? Can't beat that with this one. Everyone on this board that has been here since the beginning has seen this boat one time or another in action. Lets deal. I'm READY

its a toss up. i like neat old boats. the 90mph cig isnt out of the equation yet either. still gotta see where the cards are gonna fall
The chief 06 boat is nice but the interior is just new in cabin. The cockpit needs it still. Gulch boat is nice but it's a redo to make it mint. |
The Gucci boat was at the Lake of the Ozarks but they are selling out to retire, they have already sold the dock and hoist. I talk to the owner of The Chief Apache he had every mark and gouge fixed on the boat and had so e of the mural repainted. A few of the gauges weren't working so he has fixed all of that also,he took it out and ran it and it ran out at 85mph. He said it needed more prop and he was going to try and do that this month but the last I takes to him he told me it has been on the trailer all summer do to business and elderly parents. It can be bought for 80k right now and it is perfect. There is a 2000 42 Cig with 1000 Zuls with 40 hrs that can be bought for a 120k. If you need numbers or email for a The Chief or the Cig let me know.

Mike I got the buffalo poker run this weekend but I will give you a call. The trailer is beautiful but i dont really need it. I have a aluminum I can throw under it.
|
Perfect I want the trailer.
|
Hi mike , if it is not to much trouble would do me a favor and measure the distance from the transom to front of the bilge area . I am ciurous to know how much longer is it than my flat deck bilge area . Thanks Rick G.

Tim, the Chief was a good buddy of mines boat, that is the best riding boat I ever been on, solid 85 mph and its detuned for reliability, the guy that bought it off Rob redid the whole bottom and every nick was fixed (as stated) it needed gauges when Rob sold it he didnt get to it (divorce) and I think that might have been addressed, te engines had a couple hours on them when he sold it he had just spent 25,000.00 reding engines, drives and trans refresh, I helped him do it.... I would buy that boat in a heartbeat, how cheap is it going for??
