36 Apache Warrior Step Bottom
Looking for some insight from the tribe... seriously looking at a 36 Warrior with a twin step bottom. Looking to find out how these steps perform.. boat is set up with 500s and bravos. Owner stated 84mph currently.... looking for any insight or comments on ride and how do they handle big water... is this set up underpowered.? Thanks...
Those speeds seem pretty close, Blue Moon ran 82 with 500's and single step. There where not many made only 2 with single step. Maybe 6 with twin step
Run very well handle very well. Ran mine with a set of small blower motors . They love trim.
I'm guessing the Ohio one?
Yup... it's the one in port clinton. Know the boat?
Just a little talking ect nothing in depth.

Best handling boat I've been in. Turns like a straight bottom, speed and efficiency of steps

Yes.... No mid air bounce on the Apache, although not quite as tight of a turn lol
Thanks for all of the responses. I gathered up my stuff, cash, and tow rig and heading to port clinton this morning. Let see if the owner would like to deal.... he claims 84mph... any thoughts on that with this engine and drive pkg?
Sounds about right, the f2 race boat has been a touch over 90
Boat looks clean from what I saw. Think he is asking 89/85K Only thing I wasn't a fan of is the way the GPS was mounted in the cabin then swung out. Good solid package. I never put shorties on but always wanted to try it. The more I trimmed up the faster I would go. I talked to Bob about it said he tried all combos and the way it set up stock was best. Id still be curious as to how the - helped or hurt.

Boat is very clean.... he has taken well care of it and it shows..
Do u think that price of 85k is outa wack? Boat is all stock... |
If your asking me, Id say a bit high with it stock never any motor work done for maintenance. I liked bigger power for the hull as they will take any thing you put in it. The drives as we all know are the weak link. My power was who knows but ran 85.1 1 time. Ran 84 a few times but 83 everyday of the week. Supposed 600s. I spoke with another owner his 575 boat runs 85 so a 500 boat running 84 either isn't stock or doesn't run 84 on GPS but hopefully you ran it and GPS'd it.

Well, Pow Wow is coming to W. Michigan. Staying in fresh water.
Owner got reasonable and it all worked out!! Newest member of the tribe. Had a smile the whole way home. Wanted an apache for 15yrs. |
What did you get at speed?
Congrats and welcome to the tribe.
I was lucky enough to catch a ride on Mike's and it was one of my favorite boats I've ridden in. Let alone the solid bolsters, the steering wheel didn't budge when you set the boat on a straight path, it just held and the boat flew over whatever was in its way...it was awesome. Speeds seem pretty accurate from what I've read about other 36's with similar HP500 packages. Post some pics of yours when you can!
There were 8-10ft waves on the bay today.so.we.decided against running. Lol.. review a video of running and GPS showed 82 on that day... didn't see water conditions in video though... will update that soon as we will be running muskegon lake on tues and we will get a better number... may play with props. Currently lab 28s. Any suggestions?
Thanks baywatch!!! |
Congratulations , welcome to the tribe!! There great boats!! If you need service see Ben at Precision Power Offshore in Spring Lake. If you need detailing I am in Grand Haven or I am at Ben's a lot . You'll love her. I had a couple 36's.

Welcome to the tribe! You are really going to enjoy the boat. In 2001, I went on a demo ride in a 36' twin step with carbureted 500's. It ran right at 80 with 5 adults on board. I have a 2001 36' single step with 575's. It will run 87-89 with labbed 4 blades.

Great now I have to see it out and want it more and more. I have been looking at it all summer wanting it but couldn't put it together till spring. Congratulations hope you have a great time with it.
So you were the one Jerrod!! The owner kept telling me about you and was confident that you were coming back in the spring with full price offer.... Drove the price up on me Lol!! Its all good. I think I got a good price and boat will do what I am looking for it to do.... Nykamp - Thanks, I will be talking with you soon on the detailing end of things. There is a little dock rash on the starboard side graphics I would like to get fixed. For now, I think I am going to run the boat over to Keith Holmes and have the drives freshened and upgraded over the winter. My buddy Brad had Precision do the motors in his fountain and he was extremely happy with them. Keith is a great guy and I enjoy talking and working with him. Should be ready to rock for spring!!! I am so friggin excited to be in an Apache. You guys all have been great and love the help on the information. I was all set to buy a 33 Powerplay until I stepped into this Warrior.... |
pow wow about some pictures ??

Congrats! I am glad to hear you were happy with the condition...
How is it running?
Congrats on the buy. I started seriously looking at it after Baywatch and Griff turned me on to it after the LOTO Support Our Troops run last year. Wanted it bad, but the uncertainty at work didn't allow it.
Hope it's treating you well....such a cool and unique boat. |
It's a really nice boat, I am lucky enough to get to detail her. The owner is a great guy.
Great! I'll drop this in here from a couple weekend ago...
