jeff32 02-12-2017 09:02 AM

And what are your plans with this boat? What kind of a resto do you have in your dream? Have you ever done another project like this?

F-2 Speedy 02-12-2017 09:06 AM

I know you bought some engines in the states, when will you receive them ?? are you still looking for drives.

leif 02-12-2017 10:39 AM

Got the drives etc everything is hopeful leaving NJ next week

leif 02-12-2017 10:42 AM

All the hardware is coming from the US meantime I'm doing hull, building seats hatches etc and trying to get the history of the boat

ttuton 02-12-2017 02:47 PM

If you contact Mark McManus at Apache he should be able to get you the original build sheets on the boat.

Btw congrats on purchase. Keep us updated with pics.

leif 03-27-2017 09:53 AM

Havent found any rot..been in the boatbizz for almost 30 years..it looks solid also in the transomholes etc..engine and drives etc etc are coming next week..

CIG3 04-25-2017 02:45 PM

You will need an alignment tool for speedmaster #3-#5. It works just like the bravo unit your used to as it has a disk that aligns to the gimbal bell housing and a shaft the aligns the motor at the flywheel/flex plate.

You will want to rig the lift of the motor so you can move side to side, up and down, and be able to tilt the motor front to back.

1) Hang engine with bell housing by eye close the location using the aluminum angle plates for base location front to back.
2) Insert alignment tool into transom/Gimbal so that the shaft is thru the gimbal bell housing.
3) With help from someone insert the shaft into the flywheel flex plate.
4) raise and lower the engine so that the alignment tool disk fits flush with the gimbal bell housing.
5) clamp motor mounts and make sure the alignment shaft moves freely in and out without binding.
6) drill motor mounts and bolt together. I do the front first then recheck that the alignment tool still moves freely.

leif 04-25-2017 03:18 PM

Hi ,thanks a lot for the great info..so I mount engine first and then transmission..where do i get this tool..big thanks..smile

F-2 Speedy 04-25-2017 03:52 PM

wasnt this a bravo or TRS boat before it was stripped ??, Ive not done a project of this size but I would think you would need to mount the transom assemblies first ( to set the drive height ) and then work your way forward.

leif 04-25-2017 04:59 PM

No it is set up for ssm ,so should be plug and play..I wish..smile

CIG3 04-26-2017 10:54 AM

The process I described is how I do it on a new install. If you want to do it with the transmission mounted it is the same process your just putting the alignment tool into the transmission. The alignment tool should be available thru a mercury service center. They www.mercruiserparts.com they may be your best source to get one shipped to Denmark
