I'll talk to him again tomorrow. He reallly dosen't know what his boat is worth. He just bought 2 new SC900's and they are still in the box. so he's a little confused. I'll get somemore info for ya tomorrow.

Scalp

BattleCry 03-04-2003 07:29 PM

ScalpTaker,

His boat is only worth what someone is willing to give for it. We all know how much something should be worth but, the fact is MONEYTALKS and you know the rest.:)

ScalpTaker36 03-04-2003 09:22 PM

Battle,

I agree with you. Just hope that Wild buys something. Summer will be here soon.

Off to Miami I go!!

Scalp

BattleCry 03-04-2003 11:51 PM

ScalpTaker,

There are alot of pretty good deals right now. The reason is that some people would like to sell inorder to roll their money into something else. The deals are OK. But buying a $250,000.00 boat for a $100,000.00 is INSANE. It can be done if you want to devote your life to boat purchasing.

wannabe 03-06-2003 02:53 PM

Wild,

I have been watching the 41's ever since reading the Apache/Name thread last summer. 41 footer's seem to bottom out at about $ 110k and they wil ALWAYS need work asa the universal description of a boat says, a hole into which you empty your wallet. Truth is what you need to look at is a 38 Top Gun. Many available for 75-85k. But you want an Apache and I understand as I do to. There are more 41's availble now than I have everseen indicating a buyers market. There is a 45 footer for $ 90k ex race boat- no head-1/2 cabin. Not as plush as a full pleasure 41. I say all this as free advice and worth every penny, but it's the market as I see it.

Good luck hunting and keep us informed.

Wannabe

Wild 03-14-2003 11:19 AM

Wannabe, I appreciate the advice, but I can not find and 38 Top Gun in that price range that are nice or have good power or drives, even 1990 38s are still in the low 100k range.

If I have to pick between a 1990 38 TG with 420s and TRS or a 1989 Apache with #3s and 800 hp, That is a no brainer for me. Others may disagree.

I am still on the hunt and weighing my options. (some need a trailer, all need paint, some need interior, etc.)

ScalpTaker36 03-18-2003 09:53 PM

There is a guy in Canada who has a 41 with 900 HP Eikhards (hope I spelled that right) only 5 hous on motors & drives. The boat is like new I saw some pics of it this morning when I was in florida with Bob & Eric @ Apache. The interior is like new or might actually be new. It comes with a Myco Trailer. The guy is asking 125K for the boat. I think the guy got hurt or something and can't use the boat anymore.

Call bobby saccenti for more info.

Wild 03-19-2003 11:12 AM

Basically it is between the cheif and the one in canada.

It will come down to price.

Ike 03-19-2003 11:50 AM

Randy, sorry for the delay i am sending the info out today. Thank's Ike.

little steep with no drivetrain.....dont you think

tony04 05-31-2003 01:57 PM

Slingshot,

Actually, in price comparision (remember the factory updates, you will be doing them to any 41' you purchase), the price is in line.
Visit the boat and compare what you see to what else is offered out there. The more you know, the more you need to know.
This Apache is ready for all conditions and will withstand up to 1000HP. I ran Zul 800's, best day 93mph. Fastest Side by Side ever manufactured.(Ask Mark McManus, he designed and built as new and as rerig.
Thank you for your interest, Ron can show you the boat

I DEFINATELY REALIZE WHAT THE UPDATES ARE WORTH.....AND I WISH THAT PEOPLE PAID YOU FOR ALL THE MONEY THAT YOU PUT IN TO THINGS TO MAKER THEM BETTER, ITS JUST HOW IT GOES.

p.s. geronimo looks good.....see a few weeks ago good luck with it

tony04 06-02-2003 04:42 AM

If you realize the cost, why do you feel the cost is steep? What numbers do you work with? Have you logged many hours enjoyment on your Apache? Do you maintain your Apache professionally? How many years have you run your Apache?

The boat won't sell to a thief, or to someone who can't afford to run an Apache 41, thats just how it goes.

SLINGSHOT 06-02-2003 10:27 AM

chill bro, I feel for you as mark is doing my boat next to yours, I just was saying that most people are ignorant to the fact that the amount of money put into these boats to make them what they are...and i know you have had that boat for sale awhile and this economy peoplewant something for nothing

tony04 06-02-2003 09:14 PM

I ask you again, why do you feel the price is too steep?

You asked me, and I explained too you why the price is in line and worth every dollar.

If you have learned anything from(or even met) Mark, you wouldn't have made those comments!

And by the way, you never said how many hours/years of enjoyment you've logged on A 41' Apache.

Good Luck, "Slingshot"
(maybe thats the boat for you)

BattleCry 06-04-2003 01:31 AM

No engines or drives? But set-up for 6's. A 13 almost 14 year-old trailer. A few thousand dollars in gauges, give or take. The upgrades done SEVEN years ago.

So per-say, I buy the boat for $160,000. I spend over $60,000 on new 6's. Were up to $220,000. Plus a pair of 900 or 950 Chiefs. Say $60,000. Its probably more. Plus Labor. Were in the neighborhood of $300,000. for a 1989 boat. A jokes aside its still a 14 year-old boat.

Thats where my figures end up at. Hope you get what you want.

Then that means that the deal is the 89 41 Pleasure with 800's and 3A's that I know runs 80 mph and has had the interior redone by the factory for the LOW LOW PRICE of around $110,000.

Wild 06-04-2003 01:02 PM

battle what 41 are you talking about?

got any pics

LEOPAJM 06-05-2003 08:09 AM

Hey Tony ..... Hows it going ???? What does "McManus Factory Safety updates" mean ?

Thanks!!!!

JM

Steve 1 06-05-2003 10:01 AM

I would like know what a safety update and keel strngthening technique is and a boat built by the alleged resin bucket master himself BTW the only place to get a new apache is from -------------- where the safety is standard and keel strengthening is already properly engineered in the boats from initial layup.

Should be no problem for the west coast florida indian wanna be's to do simple panel analysis, all they need is a radio shack calculator, then keel strengthening and rebuilding is not needed for the simple fact that the loading and deflection would be calculated with multibles of safety built in to the laminate.

but we know that they are into lightweight construction by using their commanche units which equal 1 metric ton/ie 1CU.
per example, a basic boat at my shop, instead of weighing 8,000 pounds complete at my door with lifetime warranty, ready to run, there's would weigh 8 commanche units or 8CU or 8 times 2,200 pounds which equals 17,600 pounds or somewhere around there and needs annual updates and keel strengthening every so often.

birdog 06-05-2003 02:07 PM

We can always count on steve1 to be "subtle" & diplomatic !!:D :D

tony04 06-05-2003 06:26 PM

LEO,

It's simple to explain.

The Boat is a 1989 model.

Moving at the speeds all of us do, through the rough seas all of us yearn for, the older boats must recieve refribishing updates to ensure, among many things, safe boating.

New fuel tanks and lines, engine and drive rebuils, hull and deck inspection, transom and keel inspection, steering system inspection, electrical inspection, cockpit integrity, engine room integrity,...etc.

Surely, "steve1" knows all this, in fact, I 'm sure steve was trying to say he agrees, the older boats must undergo and pass a Marine Survey, required by all insurance carriers.
Unless you don't plan on having insurance.
And you don't care if your boat sinks.
Or you could careless about the safety for the people who ride in your boat with you (much less your own safety).
Or you could careless about the property damage and liability cost of hurting others on the water.
Call Blackadar high performance marine insurers(one of many), they can explain it best.

LEO, McManus factory safety updates prepair the boat and the owner for safe use of the product.

(steve, sorry, but was all that your unfinished calculus homework or are you still in high school trying to pass geometry?

Steve 1 06-05-2003 08:19 PM

Oh NOW I understand a complete Rebuild using the ole Safety Issue/Gimmick ....Gee and I thought it was just some Super Costly inspection of the expiration dates on the Life-Jackets..Thanks for clearing that up.

:p :p

Papache 06-05-2003 09:58 PM

tony04 06-07-2003 05:00 AM

"steve1"

Do even own a boat? Sounds like you don't, so you wouln't understand.

How many races/poker runs/weekends/hours of boating have you logged?Sounds like none, so you wouldn't understand.

It sounds to me like you are stuck in some shop. Perhaps your customers don't ever come back, so you wouldn't understand.

Oh yea, life jackets should be worn, not stuffed in the cabin where you you wouldn't know the condition.

Sorry, I don't understand any comments you make. You don't make any sense.

What shop do you work in? Address, phone number? Whose boats do you work on? Boat names? Boat history?

Boat owners on this web site surely don't want you working on their boats......

Steve 1 06-07-2003 09:46 AM

tony04 06-08-2003 12:31 PM

"steve"
once again, you are unable to talk the truth.

Once again all we see is mumbo jumbo.

Perhaps its best that you just don't reply. Or don't you have anything else to do?

You make no sense on any points

And bye the way, any club you belong too is of no interest to me,
or any other real person.

What are you afraid of, steve?

tony04 06-08-2003 06:42 PM

ideal customer?, You make your point. You have no interest in your customers- if you really had any to begin with.

And you know I know what I'm talking about. You seem to get upset because some owners know more than you do.

Don't bother with me, I'm not worth your time.

You make no sense.

Steve 1 06-08-2003 07:00 PM

Tony:

BattleCry 06-09-2003 04:19 AM

I didn't mean to start a war here or fire the first shot.

Wild, the boat that I'm talking about is Tonto's other boat.

Tony, you didn't ask and I didn't specify about the newness of the fuel tanks, power, drives, steering, and most importantly the keel. SORRY couldn't resist that last one. I would like to know where to buy used No.6 drives for $5GRAND. I'll take'em all at that price and pay a finders fee. Fresh rebuilt ofcoarse. I'm not really sure how rigging for 6's is that much different, but I've never rigged 6's. I was not meaning to run down your boat. I just wanted to let you and everyone else know what was out there.
