If you think about it it might not be BS. From the ground up it's a new design and with steps and new light weight composites (no plywood) it very well could be the "fastest" 41 Apache assuming all things are equal with the drive-train.

Steve, I'd love to see it, I'm in Jupiter for a while, can you pencil me in?

We are quite happy with it.There are systems in place such as precision pattern cutting of the laminate and a lot of painstaking wet vacuum bagging to maintain the filament to resin ratio.

Early on as we were doing the workup and checking some samples; you take a piece of the laminate finished weigh it and burn the resin out then back to the scale for the remaining weight that gives you the resin to filament ratio.

Which brings the reason for all this: the Epoxy test coupons did not want to burn you really have to keep the torch on it.. a nice side benefit the boat will not sink by virtue of construction or burn on its own..

Sorry for the long winded reply I was just trying to explain why we do not have surprises.

Best Regards

Steve 1 02-01-2004 08:10 AM

Becca how are you ??

OldSchool 02-01-2004 08:51 AM

THEJOKER 02-01-2004 10:30 AM

can't wait to see the new boat!

Everybody should get into the boat building business , it's a simple way to get rich. Fiberglass is a buck a pound , right? 8000 lb boat you got $ 8000.00 dollars of material , sell it for $ 300,000 grand. Nothing to it , yea right! BH

I JUST WANT TO SEE IT...NOT STARTING ANYTHING HERE SO...DONT JACK UP THE THREAD:cool:

buckknekkid 02-01-2004 11:16 AM

OK SLing

The boat business always takes 10 time longer to create the initial hull. Then you start the serious problems of trying to make money from it. Getting it right out of the gate will drive the average guy nuts. SO back to my earlier post. Wait till it gets wet then decide if its fast.

In other words, it takes a lot of time, testing, and tuning to build the first boat. The second on is easy. With that said, if Steve started with a clean sheet of paper it will surely take a lot more time than most realize. I doubt the boat is finished, nor will it be anytime soon. I think they are shooting for perfection and you can't unveil a big $$$ boat like this without perfection. I'm guessing they won't rush it just to make the show...

Steve 1 02-01-2004 01:47 PM

No disrespect, but do you think you'll ever get a straight answer from Steve1?
=======================================
HUH ???

SLINGSHOT 02-01-2004 02:58 PM

IT WAS A STRAIGHT FORWARD ? WITH NO ANSWER ............I'M OUT THIS THREAD IS GAY:mad:

Steve 1 02-01-2004 03:16 PM

Mike I am still working on it.. it is hard to post Photos as the Bottom has to be protected VIA US Patent.

The Power is BIG and the drives are of course dry sump 6's Sorry I can not PM because of a ruckus and some crybabies...

I will post some more of the construction..here in your thread.

Thanks for your Patience and Best Regards

BK 02-01-2004 03:28 PM

Note of caution:

If you do get a patent on part of the design, then you give up the chance to copyright the design with the new VESSEL HULL DESIGN PROTECTION ACT

http://www.copyright.gov/vessels/

"The Vessel Hull Design Protection Act, Title 17, Chapter 13 off the United States Code, was signed into law on October 28, 1998, providing for protection for original designs of vessel hulls. The new law grants an owner of an original vessel hull design certain exclusive rights provided that application for registration of the design with the Copyright Office is made within two years of the design being made public. "

Steve 1 02-01-2004 03:32 PM

BK thanks!!

Miller 02-01-2004 03:36 PM

Steve, 2 quick questions:

1. Will the boat be in Miami or if not, can people see the boat at the shop (assuming you're still finishing it)?

2. Is this boat already sold or will it be used by the company to demo and show off the new design to prospective customers?

Good luck with the rest of this project and post some updated pictures if you get the chance.

miller

P.S. Any idea of the speeds this particular hull will see when it's finished?

BK 02-01-2004 03:38 PM

You are welcome. Not a lot of builders know about this new law, so I'm just doing my part :eureka:

And registration process is a whole lot easier than trying for a patent too. If you need more info, let me know.

Steve 1 02-01-2004 03:40 PM

BK Thanks again and you are a real Lady.. For taking the time to give some help..

Steve1,
Can you answer these questions? It always seems that these threads get sidetracked away from the purpose and things get talked around without anyone getting their questions answered with a simple yes or no. Always a cryptic message (and not necessarily from you). I'm not picking on anyone or trying to stir up any chit, but will there be a boat @ the Miami Boat Show or not?

Craig:)

SS930 02-01-2004 04:01 PM

My guess is Steve has his hands tied... I don't think HE is trying to avoid the questions.

Steve1, can you give a big thumbs up if I'm correct?

Steve 1 02-01-2004 04:03 PM

Thanks 930.
