Can I be a member of the Tribe?

I just brought her home last week!! Thanks to Bobby Saccenti, can't believe he still makes time to help out a guy buying a boat he built 14 years ago! Saber28 and Lotoparty for their advise on the 28! What a solid boat, just gotta name her!

And a extra thanks to KBT74 for making the brutal road trip to pick her up. 1200 miles in 28 hours. Thanks buddy!

Hessdk 05-05-2004 10:37 AM

Congratulations on your new ride. I am sure you will enjoy her.

Steve_H 05-05-2004 11:04 AM

Congratulations!! glad it worked out for you.
boat looks great and yes , they are SOLID

CFD5 05-05-2004 04:48 PM

Thanks again for your help Loto, turns out the guy was pretty cool and really took care of me. The boat is cleaner than I expected. Trailer's shot but the boat is awesome! Is yours an Aluminum trailer, if so, how is it? Good/bad? I need to start shopping for a new one.

sgrady 05-05-2004 05:14 PM

NICE !

BTW you are !

CFD5 05-05-2004 05:19 PM

yes , mine is aluminum (magic-tilt).
im not to thrilled about the way the boat sits on it but ive asked around and its fine the way it is. it tows good though , and lighter then a steel one.
just gotta get used to it. all my other boats had steel trailers with forward bunks. ive recently added forward bunks and it made a world of difference when it comes to loading the boat. all it had before was the big rear bunks with the ugly verticle pvc poles for guides and a plastic keel pad in the front. boat didnt center itself very well. dealing with a dealer and the factory was a nightmare. sent the wrong parts 3 times but they didnt give up. after 3 weeks i finally got them installed. i also removed the vertical poles in the back. i wont need them with the forward bunks installed. ide buy another aluminum trailer but probably not a magic-tilt. their customer support is terrible im my opinion.

WetKitty42 05-05-2004 05:24 PM

Good luck, it's a great boat

you too? :D
hell , the contraversy alone is reason enough to buy one

CFD5 05-05-2004 05:32 PM

A little contraversy make it more fun! Thanks for the compliments guys.
Loto, does the trailer float? I'm thinking about a triple axle loadmaster. I heard they float and can be a pain to load. My current trailer only has the rear bunks also and it was a nightmare getting it on my first time. What an embarassing ramp story. Also, are you spinning the props in our out and what props do you have?

CFD5, congrats on the new boat. The other trip would have been worse.;)

Comanche3Six 05-05-2004 06:13 PM

Best of Luck with the Apache.

heres a thread about my trailer and some good advice about loading i got from Griff. loadmaster is mentioned also. i have a ramp story also ugggg. windy day with a current. would have been easyer if i jumped off the bow with a rope and drug it onto the trailer :o

hey, i know that boat!! ;)

Dave is a good guy. Good luck with her.

CFD5 05-05-2004 08:41 PM

BGIII, Glad I didn't head that way!

Loto, sounds like we have the same ramp story. I'm spinning 24 bravo 4blades, out also. Prev. owner said he tried some 25 mirage's and picked up a couple on top end but like the cruise of the 4blades better. I'm gonna try some 25's as soon as I get used to the boat. I also got some porposing at WOT but I think it's because I'm not used to the boat yet and don't have it trimmed right.
Thanks for all the compliments guys!

Steve_H 05-05-2004 08:54 PM

the porposing im getting happens in flat water but goes away with the trim and tabs adjusted to around 2 on the mechanical indicators. the rougher the water the less porposing i get

HiPerf2000 05-05-2004 09:26 PM

i may have a set of 25 mirages for you.

CFD5 05-05-2004 09:46 PM

Same ones he tried??? A friend (ITTLFLI) has a set I'm going to try and might get if he can spare them. If not I will be giving you a call. Thanks. Dave turned out to be a great guy. It's nice to know that you can still buy a used boat and not feel like you got screwed! Tell him I said thanks again!

HiPerf2000 05-05-2004 09:56 PM

these are a different set of props. i just bought a Sonic, and saw them in the one closet. the boat is getting delivered and should be here next week. i don't think i will be using them cause i'm more concerned with the cruise speed of the 4 blades that are one there....., so i was thinking of selling.

yea, Dave is good, honest guy. i've known him for years. last i talked to him he was looking to get into a Sport Fisherman. i'll let him know you are satisfied!

keep us posted on how you like the boat. and let me know if you need those props.

Mark

WesSmith 05-06-2004 05:45 AM

Congrats !!

Best of Luck !

birdog 05-06-2004 06:19 AM

Lets see....
Trailers.....Aluminum, Flex Float...Buy a steel Myco
Props...Mirage will give you a little top speed..You lose cruise & mid range punch..
Rotation...Leave them out,
Tabs..Mark neutral on the panel & run them there in smooth water...rides very nice.

Have fun !!!!! remember....PIB...May 21st !!:D

APACHE

Welcome to the tribe!! Bobby is a great guy, enjoy your new ride. If you are looking for a new trailer, try viper trailers here in michigan ask for rod or steve. I have a couple of my customers new 38 top guns on them and yesterday had them give me a price on a trailer for a 41 I am considering, there # is 1-616-837-9758. Good luck with your new ride. Steve

DannyD 05-06-2004 11:39 PM

Hey CFD5. That looks like PA water..... I see ya got some killer pics at the rest stop too. If I wasn't pressed for time I would have taken some for myself.
To everyone:
I had the pleasure of seeing this boat before she even got home that day. She is a beautiful. Good luck with her. Shine that baby up with that Boat Shield and keep her maintenanced with Swipes.
Lets get together and do some wave crush'n this year.

CFD5 05-07-2004 06:47 AM

Hey Dan! Used the swipes to clean the road dirt from the interior and they worked great! I'm in for the wave crushing, gotta test this thing out. Thanks for the compliments on the Apache, not nearly as clean as your Cig. Hopefully we'll be able to run together this year.
