WOW Jim! Great thread! Thanks to You and everyone that made this possible. I'll post pics of my '83 as soon as I can. Be prepared for a 'skeleton view of a Scout'. Same 6" pad on mine 3/4 of the way to the bow. When Bobby gets back to me I'm sure I'll have more history to share on mine. Have a great weekend y'all

Bobbys reply to my questions regarding my '83 Scout
Hi Scott
Yes I do remember the boat very well. When I started the Apache Powerboat company in the late seventies we where only building a 21’ & 33’. I named the 21’ model the Scout because I thought it was fitting for its size. The Scout that you have with the AB8 number was the original serial number that was assigned to me when I started the company before the Ben Kramer days. After the companies where divided in 1985, all the Apache Scouts where numbered APH.
Your boat was custom built in the early eighties for the North Miami Police department to patrol the intercostals waterways back when the smugglers where using powerboats. They wanted a small low profile boat to run in and out of the south Florida intercostals waterways day or night. The police department told me that the Scout was very affective and was involved in many hot pursuits in Biscayne Bay and many times out in open water. The boat received a lot of complements for its size from the officer in charge of operating it. I remember the day it went into service, all of the North Miami Police brass and the Mayor came down to the marina for the scout’s debut.
The boat was originally a dark blue hull and light blue cockpit. The deck was custom made by modifying and cutting the sport deck and installing a center console that we purchased from another boat company. I believe the power was a 200 h/p Evenrude long shaft. They finally sold the scout after many years hard service. Every now and then, I run into the officer that recommended the Apache scout for the Miami Marine Patrol, and he still talks about how great that boat was. Over the years I have built several versions of the 21' Scout, your boat (the police boat) was built out of the first and original molds.
Not too bad for a boat that’s over twenty years old and is still out there. When you get it all together please email me a picture. You have the only center console Apache Scout ever built. In the meantime, best of luck with your project,
Regards

Will a fellow OSO'er please send me a virtual slap in the head? All I can do is just sit here with spit dribbling down my shirt and say WOW over and over again!
