Sparky, let's check your memory
My AwesomeCat has x3 gas tanks.
Now, best place is one in each tunnel.
The third tank runs under the back seat (side to side).
Third tank under the seat runs the middle motor.
Well, what do think it does on a hard right turn?
Runs the fuel onto the left hand side of the tank
Hard right turns, center motor runs out of gas.
Who designed this, talk about stupid.
May change & run a splash tank & only fill 2 tanks.
It's great to run 3 motor & 3 tanks, but at a 1/4 tank, the middle has problems when turning. (pain!)
Any thoughts?
Note: each tank is 80gallons.

Richard, As far as I know this was the only factory built 31' with outboards built to be a race boat for Ed Terakien . It had trip 2.4's and never was quit set up right. If I remember right the best speed back in the day was 77mph. So it sounds like with the last half dozen owners the set up has been getting closer ! I just cant believe klem put a 80 gal. tank on top of the tunnel. I guess after seeing some of his set up's I guess I could believe it!!!!!

Nice to know I'm on the right track.
The tank on top of the tunnel, under the back seat was not a good move.
When the gas slashs from side to side, it dumps the air out of the tunnels. Weird, because it will lean out on the turns.
Over 3/4 full, it runs much better, but makes alot of weight.
If I run only 2 tanks, do you think it would stop dumping air on turns?
To remove the center tank, I would have to remove the back seat & the framing & fire wall!, would be a hell of a job to remove. alot of cutting & fiberglass work.
May just empty the tank & leave it in.
Keep you posted as winter is on it's way (sucks!)
Set up:
Since I got it (before it had 2.4) & seems they did not turn rpms, 2.5 efi seems much better.
I have removed the bottom pick-ups & installed transom pick ups. (This has helped water pressure very much)
The 2 outside run transom pick-ups & LW pick-ups off the lower.
The center motor which has run great from the start does not have transom pick-ups & only runs on the lower unit.
Since then, I have not had any trouble with water pressure.
Raised them very high & brought them down a little.
Set up is getting close.
Now, lets change the motors & do it all over again.
Things we do for more speed.
But, all I can say, is the 225 promax are great motors.
Almost hate to start over again, but hell that's what boys do.
Looking forward to summer again.
Any added bonus by turns the props in?
Jeff

You should be able to cut the engine bulkhead behind the seat and pull that tank out towards the transom.

Over the last 10 years I have really become an O/B fan, since I built the first Vicious in 1998 and powered it with 300 Promax's . That boat would run 108-109 all the time with two people and 3/4 tanks of fuel. As soon as the new building is finished down hear I am starting a new hull that has a wider tunnel and a little less rocker in the bottom.
I am going to power it with O/B's and race it for a season in OPA & SBI to dial in the bottom and then pull a fresh mold.

I agree, that will be the best way of getting it out.
Do you kwon if tanks were glassed in or just foamed around.
Really do not want to take out the back seat.
But, if it comes out the back, that would be an easy fix.
Tunnel tabs.
I remember the ShadowCat had 3 motors but also had a tunnel tab between the 2 tunnels, but the tabs did not pass the transom?
I never could understand why Nick did that ?
I think it was to push more water to the center, but now sure.
Have a great week-end

Did you get rid of the shadow, do you have any pics of the tab in the tunnel of the shadow were they flate with the tunnel or were they concaved into it ? They did that on the Doug Wright cats . What it does is trap air in the tunnel to help lift the boat.
