Talked to Greencard, he said oulaw moved the drives down to 2.5 above and did some testing. The water was rough so not conclusive yet but the results looked pretty good. All this makes me happy, my drives are at 2.5 above.
CNC, no testing yet. Sorry. Bobkat did some testing on his "special" Mystic with 5's. Results look good in it also. RV cams, thats funny. I dont want to post pics, we have robbed this thread of enough value already. |
yeah i moved the drives down "-2.5 X dim " seamed to work better but couldnt tell for sure in the rough water although i did spank a new f32 dcb with 525's. that was fun but i dont think he liked knowing my boat was 25yrs older than his.

Randy, Spent 9 days on the water with the boat with zero problems. Still dont have the right props yet. I am gonna need a bigger mph speed-o. A quick run on the limiters. There is some more to be had....
|
Nice!!!! did you make any changes? prop in or out? how did she handle? porpoise?
|
Props spinning in, same as before with Bravos. Porpoise zone is small but then again it has enough motor to cruise right through it. Also when the test run was done the water was very flat. 80 mph is the bad area..
|
Brian what pitch? 4 or 5 blade?
|
5 blade 38s 16.8 diam herings.

Still working on borrowing props.... Props that big seem to be hard to borrow :). I would like to try some mercs next. The Herings seems to have a ton of slip through the mid range.
|
are you running boxes and what hp are your motors putting out? im just comparing to mine because you are really flying.
|
112 mph 5250 rpm with a little positive trim and 200 lbs in the rear fixed the porpus. so the motors are going back.

one day i will fly!!!! lol,
|
I just want to go boating.....
|
i want to hit 125mph
because the weight in the rear helped im going to move my motors back 12" and i think i can lower them about 6" to lower my center of gravity. any opions |
I owuld think that lowing them 6 inches would really throw off the driveline angle. I would run the boat some more and make sure the weight is what caused the poitive result in the porpoise. For mine water conditions pay a huge factor. Flat water porpoise is very noticable for about a 15 mph range 75-90 maybe. Rough water very little porpoise and its for a small mph range.
|
Brian, how is the cabin of your boat designed?
is it have the storage on the one side with the bed running side to side? The reason I ask is im having a huge problem with weight in the front end. I am breaking props left and right. I am on my third set this summer. I think porpoise is causing this along with too much weight in the front? any advice would be great! :readinghelp: on another note I put my boat along side my buddies 31 awesome 2001 and his sits 6" higher in the front end??? |

Going to the the speedmaster on boxes with transmissions and the bigger motors/blowers dropped the back end of my boat about 1.5 inches based oin picures. This 1.5 in the read results in about 3 up in the front. This is all compared to bravos on the transom. |

I would assume ther eare but they get pretty pricey. I moved my motors about a half inch outboard because the duel cooler bellhousing was going to hit the tunnel.

my drive line is sloping down now the trans sits about 3" above the shaft in the extension box so the driveline angle isnt a problem. its really tight for the oil pan and the water pump needs to be moved. is there a different water pump i can run instead of the stock mercury?
Again, do assume that you have a clearance issue with the sea pump? |
Hi Cody,
I see you changed your screen name but not your phone number how about you send me the thousand you still owe me for the 4 blade props it's been years how about you make it right and I will delete the threads. " Beware Cody White " ? Jim |

Brian, I think this is the boat.
http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/c...-cat-info.html It looks like he's swinging a 3 blade. That might be the problem. A four or five blade surface prop might allow more bow lift. Correct me if I'm wrong |
You give back those props yet
