Where we stand now.

Both fuel tanks has cut open in cabin.
Plan is put new ones inside in older tanks.
New ones are smaller and tanks dos not come in cabin anymoore.

Other pic show how cabin seems now.

For the O2, one possible is PLX system.

Still snow every where, winter go away, go away..

Pair PLX DM6 units and nuts for exhaust tubes has arrived.

also pair of seats in the cabin has found and waiting assembly.

Hmmm. Was size capacity are the original fuel tanks each?
Sure mounted forward a bunch. Are all Chris Cats fuel tanks mounted like yours? I know that the AO and Awesome vary a small amount, but both are mounted rearward of your location.

Orginal was 400litres/205gal per side, total 800l/211gal.

Not all chris has same, this boat are orginal race hull with
three man side by side cockpit.

I have measure that new tank volume (under cockpit)
Are near 250l/66gal per side total 500l/132gal.

Sure its almost half than orginal but i want
More deep/space in cabin area..

It looks like, thats make O2 sensor assemply VERY easy. :)
I have allready separate short bungs for welding...no need for those anymoore.

O2 to one side... What about EGT sensor to other side,
Is it any worth in that place ?

WOW 205 gallon tanks!!! Betcha with full tanks that added some weight. 66 gallon tank will put you right in the ballpark with the AO and Awesome's. Here is the rear location of my tank. Rear portion of the tank is about 8-10 inches within the engine compartment beyond the rear bulkhead.

ROTAX454 03-07-2012 09:54 AM

Another 31 Awesome owner is James Beard. He had a fuel tank leak and may be of some help in fuel tank removal and installation. Here is the thread that he posted on. Good guy and very knowledgeable.

Your engine bay So clean and shine...

Your bulkhead is different place.

How many inches tank is from boat rear wall (from top end/where drives go out) ?

Few things has happened..

Outside doors are done but not in place, those put in place
when other jobs in cabin has done..

Also O2 bungs are welded. That was quite challenge when
this is first time ever for using the MIG welder. Pipes are douple
layer so they need first weld together.. All done when pipes are
in own places.

Next job is repair the fuel tanks.
Deside to coated the old ones from inside with vinyl ester resin and with 2-3 glass layers.
Vinyl ester is also standardized for ethanol, maybe in the future tune the engines for E85..

Change old "white" vinyl's in cockpit area to carbon look ones.

i love projects!

shootitup 05-10-2012 09:24 AM

Boat is a platform for unstoppable need to tune, build up,
take it to pieces and put it back again.. :lolhit:

Uppdates...

- PLX O2 gauges are in place

- Gas tank laminating are in progress, that is one big job

Still too cold for boating.. but wheather goes better.
Need to get it ready and in water to end of month..

Sorry but nothing new just now :(

When i bought this last autumn i assume
That this is ready to go package.

But it seems that its not, this one has own things
Like every other old boats wich has buy before.

I have messing with extreme rich issue with
both engines, found carbs over flow maybe
Leaking power valves or etc.
Also one engine spark sensitivity wich
Could cause wrong settings of distributor
trigger mechanisms (engines has locked timing).
Those need to solve to the end after that
There will be hard runs and on going updates...
at least hope so...

shootitup 08-18-2012 03:23 PM

We Foundit :party-smiley-048:

The trigger really has setup problem.
And that problem has been there as
Long as that distributor/setup has been
in the engine long before i bought the boat.

Sparks keep flying wrong sylinders when
trigger has been in wrong setup.

Problem has solved now and none backfires
anymoore :)

Engine AFR:s are also good.

That thing run / flyes now sooo good :) :)

Boater8987 08-18-2012 07:57 PM

Glad to hear you got the bugs out. What speeds and rpm are you running now?

We have now 33" props, the problem is that there arent any bigger
25 spiline props in market..

shootitup 05-28-2013 12:48 PM

ASD8 are sandblasted and repainted last weekend.
Trim gauges has now new actuator system,
old one sucks.

Its working, :)

Standing rods are the gate, direct driving on it.

Quite simple sturcture. It based two laminated structural timber 40ft long.
It works with air, air out its go down and can drive on it.
Air in to those IBC containers and it goes up.

Jolley 07-16-2013 09:59 AM

That is a great idea .............

STV92 07-16-2013 06:11 PM

When you take the air out, they fill with water
Take the water out, she comes back up? :))

How does it work if big wave go bye??

Thats a cool idea, even like the spot lights :)

Yes when open air vents air come out and container fill water.
When blow air to containers water goes out and it come up.

System is "locked" like rails when the boat is on lift its
stable. Lake area no big waves, maybe 2ft but windy, it looks
to be fine, so much weight.

Spot lights and security camera..;)

Nice you guys like it :)

STV92 07-17-2013 07:14 AM

If you get a chance, post pics when boat is off the trailer.
Still, cool as hell! :)

When its down its floating and boat goes easier to rails.
When ride boat in rails it push system deeper in water.
