Any tried 28p Cleaver props on a 31ft?
I have a 31 ft with three 300X outboards. Thinking about trying cleavers on the two outside engines. Choppers have given a lot of bow lift but not top speed. Lightning ETs gave me better top end with less bow lift. I'm nervous about the cleavers not giving enough lift. Any guidance would be appreciated.
Thanks, Matthew |
I have the same boat but with two 300 with the 28 cleavers the bow lift is not good they work good in rough water only!

I have 31 cleavers on my 31' with twin 250xs motors. I gained about 5 mph over 4 blade 29 hydro motives that were lab bed. Hole shot, about same but mid range and top speed much better. I say try it,I'll never go back. Jmop?

Hey any of you have any advice on the setup and what numbers to expect out of an outboard 31???
Looking at 250xs mercs pr 325hp verados |
twin 300x on a stainless marine bracket running 28 bravos I saw upper 80s with 4 people
Had both power lift and trim |
Thats pretty dang good! Ive considered a bracket. Did yours put the motors in front of the tunnel? Im considering using jackplates....but liked the idea of a platform style offshore setback bracket. The designer pf this hull is quoted as saying to mount the engines as close to the transom as possible and directly behind the sponsons for max performance...but speed isnt everything

Nice!
Did you rig it? How did all that set back effect the performance? |
I think John Tomlinson TNT Marine in florida rigged it for original owner, we bought it used. It came with 28 3 blade cleavers but had a lot of porpoise so I ran 28 bravos and liked how it planed easier and took the porpoise away. Don't know if setback effected anything since that's the only way we ran it.

Gotcha man. Yea...id trade mph to get rid of porpoise and better planing any day.
Thanks for your insight.i appreciate it. Mine is gonne get a pair of 250hp efi 3 liter mercs. Hope to see a reliable 70+ mph. Prolly bump em up to 280 hp. |
