Of course, how could I forget. Here's a pic I took from the St. Pete Pier.

My Birdie is fine.

I think it may be me that needs the hearing aid!!!

It was definately one of the Baja dealers that had claimed it!

Did not know you got up this early in the morning High Tide!!!

I know there was a thread a while back regarding the stepped hull 420.

Did we ever learn if it was still around, or who has it?

Mike Ohrt,
Who runs the Hawkeye store at the Low Moor
Ia. location owns it.

He's got her all fixed up and re powered,
after her pace boat duties.

He had it at LOTO, but the noise nazi's where
giving him major grief, so he said he was
probably going to bring it back up to the river.

I heard that the 420 w/ the 850scs was obnoxiously loud too. I have a huge pic of that boat from Baja. Dave Smith gave it to me back in the late 90's @ the Tulsa boat show. He took it down from the Ugly John's booth and gave it to me frame and all. Nice guy, he rembered my old 226 w/ the HP 465 and all the hassle that they went thru to get that boat done with that motor. I heard that there were only 3 made with the HP 465. Mine, one that the guys in Iowa (Race Crafters?) and an open bow in Austin, Tx.
The 40 poker run is just not that good looking. The bolsters look like a rollercoaster car, they just need the shoulder bars.

Got that ride

6 on board, heavy on fuel,
smooth water, low 80* temp.

My GPS.........84.6 mph.

Jay ( the baja rep)was toggling through the
smartcraft screens, and earlier
that morning it showed a 89.2 mph max.

He said he has seen it run 95.

The thing is waaayy loud

I told him the noise nazi's at LOTO
are going to love you

It's a neat boat........I just wished we
had some rougher water to play on.
