Default 25 Outlaw vs. 253 Checkmate

We are looking to upgrade our 1988 253 Convincor with a 2000 25 Outlaw. I can't image a better riding 25 ft boat then the 253. Does anyone have hands on experience with both boats? How does the ride in each compare? We will have it at LOTO so it will be used in some pretty rough water. Also, how would you compare fit and finish between the two? What speeds will we see out of the 25 Outlaw with a 502 Mag? What is a fair price for this boat? Any other info is appreciated.

Not Sure On The Chekmate But The Outlaw Is A Very
Nice Boat It Rides Great Better Then Some 28ft Boats Speeds For A 99 With A 502 Is 67 To 69
Good Luck.

i have an 02 25 outlaw and i know a guy with a checkmate. checkmates are light. flat water with same power it would be a close race. with any chop outlaw will win. i was looking at a new 280 zt checkmate before i bought my outlaw. it really looked like the outlaw was much better built. i dont have any complaints about the decision i made. i hope that helps.

We have a 2000 Checkmate 259 w/ a 454MAG EFI. The boat will run 65mph on GPS in ideal conditions spinning a 23 Mirage Plus at about 5100 RPM according to it's tach. I have to disagree with yesrej that the Outlaw is "much better built". The 25 Outlaw is a nice boat for sure, but to choose that hull because it is perceived to be "better built" over the 25 Checkmates maybe a stretch. Would be great to see any 25 Outlaw owners post GPS top speeds with a 454MAG.
