Baja at Lake Cumberland
A special thank you to Baja and Alton Blakely for a nice showing at Lake Cumberland.
They do a very good job up there with the houseboat and all the nice Baja's on display. We rafted off the new 405 a couple of times and got to look it over and I will tell you first hand that this is one very sweet boat. There was a lot of thought and detail that went into this boat. It is VERY nice. Of course the 40 Poker Run boat was a real HIT. I saw lots of folks stopping to get a closer look at her. Nice to finally see it in the water and to watch it run. Good to meet Steve from the factory and all the nice folks from Alton Blakely. Thanks for letting us hang around. There were a lot of Baja's at this run which makes it fun. |
Re: Baja at Lake Cumberland
what kind of numbers does the 40 outlaw run with those 850's?

I'd also like to say thanks to Dan and the AB crew. Really nice guys. They let us tie off on Saturday, and Saturday night to the houseboat when there was nowhere else to dock. Also got to see the 405 in person and that's one hell of a boat. The 40 PR Edition was real wild. Wish I could've had a ride in that!! |
Re: Baja at Lake Cumberland
birdog & jonyb,
Sorry I did not get to meet both of you in person. I guess you saw my rig uptown. We stopped in the Jamestown Cafe on the way home for breakfast. Man was the rig & boat "DIRTY". I really hate to pull it that dirty, but with the dusty parking area and the oil slick water line from the lake it looked bad. Hope you all had a great time. We look forward to going back up again next year. Take care Doc. |
Re: Baja at Lake Cumberland
Yeah, what was with the that oil slick scum line? I looked at the 405 this morning in the parking lot, and thought someone added a black stripe! Makes our Lake Erie scum lines look pretty mild!

Re: Baja at Lake Cumberland
Great shots Dock, wish I could have come up but I ended up destroying my back over the holiday weekend and have been told by the good doctor not to go boating for a couple of weeks. Somehow I figured a Poker Run might not be the best thing for it.
|
Re: Baja at Lake Cumberland
You guys must have had 25 Bajas rafted together Sat night on the dock. Dont think I have ever seen that big a raft up at the docks ! :D

405 looked like a 292 on steroids The boat looks GREAT in the water. The more I see the paint scheme, the more I like it. We were having lunch up on the mountain in the resturant Saturday when we saw it go out the no wake again and run on plane. |

Look up the link for the run, I think it is midamericaboating.com, or something like that. I'm sure you can call Roger and get them. They were $15.00 each and one of the best looking shirts we have received this poker run season. |

Well, the shot I took through the glass at the resturant is not good. This is the only shot I have.
Clayton did an AWESOME job on this paint! I like the way they capped the top deck also. |
Re: Baja at Lake Cumberland
Next years poker run boat should be wilder. It should be the 35 with 600s, we're trying to figure the paint out now we have some new experimental paint that optically enhances the colors even more than the 40

Speaking of the 35 when the hell do we get to see it? I saw the transom and baja emblem shots but I have not seen anything else. It was supposed to be released in September and it is amost halfway through the month(say this next line like a whining little kid) ..............................................WHER E THE HELL ARE MY PICTURES :D  . If is is half as cool as the 30 and faster then the 36 with same power I might just have to start selling sh!t so I can affford one. |

I have talked with a guy at the factory that is working on this project and can assure you they are busting their A$$ 27 hours a day, 9 days a week!. It is suppose to be at the dealer meeting this month and from what I hear it will be worth the wait! Remember how long the 30 took. This one is coming out fast! Be Patient. Dock |

Re: Baja at Lake Cumberland
What will it do in the choppy rough water. Typically Baja slow down greatly when the chop shows up.

That depends on who's driving! :evilb: |
Re: Baja at Lake Cumberland

I don't know what length boat and what kind of chop, every boat has it's limitations, and the longer the better. But I can tell you first hand that my 272 rode better than a 29 Fountain and my 36 rides better than a lot of boats in the same range and longer. The faster you run the 36, the better she rides. I hate flat water. We look for chop to get the most out of the boat. Most any good size performance boat rides better on top of the water, but you are BAD WRONG with your above statement. |
Re: Baja at Lake Cumberland
its a good feeling when you get one of those big boats out of the water and make it run i have seen the gps on the poker boat pick up quite a bit when she gets out of the water. they love big water
