Sound kind of like mine.

I have stellings boxes, prop shafts are about
3" below the bottom of the boat.

I usually run 32 bravo's, on a good day,
I'm against the rev limiter.

3600 rpm's ='s about 52 mph.

Have to baby it out of the hole.

Tried a set of 32 maximus 5 blades,
came right out of the hole, no blow out. :D

3600 rpm ='s 62 mph. :D

Would only turn up to 4800 rpm on top.

Top speed was about the same..

I'm pretty convinced that these 5 blades could be
ran up higher, but don't know if the rpm's will
come up enough, may have to go to 30's

I think the 5 blades and the 2" shorties
would be worth a couple mph up top.

Now, just need to find a set of shorties.

Have a friend that built up a 36 outlaw. It was a 2001 model with 502's. They made 509's and Whipple charged them (850 HP). I thought he had 2 inch shorties on it and have posted that before, but I was wrong. They were 1 inch shorties, IMCO Extremes.

The boat ran very well (92 GPS) and handled well. He was pleased with it, but it did not run triple digits and he bought a cat.

There was a thread not long ago where a guy tried 2 inch shorties and could not get on plane.

Personally I would add extension boxes with the shorties. I think that is the way to go with these boats from what I have learned.

Hope this helps a little.

Re: 1" shorter drives on a 36 Outlaw

I need some advice. I have a 87 320 that I raised the x on 3" I'm running 4 blade bravo's 24 pitch, I get on plane fine and the boat runs ok but I fell like I'm lacking in speed. It seems as if I'm not hooking up at WOT.

Would a set of Imco nuetral boxes help get clean water to the props to get the boat to hookup better and get some of the speed back? Or should I notch the transom 8 to 10" to get the clean water back to the props?

Any thoughts would be greatly appriciated!!!
