Thanks. I have 1" Imco shorties now and want to go faster without getting into the motors. I just saw they were an option in the catalog and was curious.

Excelent question! Give us all the gory details in your setup.
I figure you need 900 total hp @ 7300 lbs to get to 79 mph.

That is about the normal (REAL) speed obtained with HP 500's or 525SC's. So it will take at least that many ponies!!

I am turning 5,300 and the limiters are 5,400. There was alot of time spent tuning this boat to get these numbers. Timing, Fuel Pressure, Props..Like I said on GPS (Dash and handheld). If you are ever up near me bring your GPS and I will take you for a ride. It ran the 82 on a Poker Run with 1/8 full and 1 other person and great spring air. It will run around 79-80 all day.

I did the numbers. at 5400 on the limiter, you would have to have an 8% prop slip to get 82.

I should be around 5200-5300 with 26's but i will be at 72-74mph with 13-15% slip.

The props I have on it now are from Mercury Racing. I have another set from Bronson/Hill and they will only let me run 74-77 at the same rpm.

I'm a believer. I want that kind of performance on my boat. That is the reason for all the questions. What are you running for fuel pressure and timing? I am going to adjust the fuel pressure and would like a place to start. Your experience will save me time and money.
Like I said before, if you don't want everyone knowing your tricks, PM me and I'll keep it to myself.

I don't mind what so ever. If I can help I will. I will have to double check the numbers. I know the timing was set to Merc. specs @ WOT (which might have been 32 or 34 degrees). Also, the Fuel I believe was 42psi 2 WOT but again not 100% because I have the numbers @ home.

I am a very meticulous person. I made sure the throttle plates are totally open @ WOT. Did it help, no idea. The drives I tried tow-in, towed-out until I found the best measurement. Did it help, no idea. Even different plugs, wires, you name it. What I ended up with all made some type of difference to get what I have.
