My speeds are with the liquid speedo not GPS. As for weather it approx 120 at 8% humidity. I wonder if taking out rake or cup in the props would help or raise the lowers by 2"

You might get away with 1 inch shorter. Baja has not done well with 2 inch shorter on their standard hulls.

The 2 inch shorter work better with cats and stepped hulls that run more level, then you had 5 or 6 blade props.

especially with the newer "higher" x dimension boats. My 2000 might be a candidate for a 2" shorty, then it would be closer to your "x" doc.

My test run was done in Southern Quebec, Canada on the Richeleau River and the temp was about 78 degrees that day. The water was calm and just a slight breeze. My speed is with a standard speedometer.

I just got a ride in a brand new '07 with about 4 hours on it. The boat is completly stock and we had it WOT for under a minute and we ran 75gps. Again we didn't have it wide open very long so witha little trim and tab work I am sure it has more to go. This boat is also getting a set of CMI's installed this week which they are guessing it will break 80. I was really impressed with the boat overall. I may be wrong but I think it is the first year using a liner system. We ran that boat in 2-3 footers and it was rock solid. It is for sale for $150k. a little rich for my blood but I think it's worth it.

Mike is the sales manager at Triton Marina and takes good care of his customers. Tell him I sent you.

As for 525's, check out the following pictures. This was the first one built with 525's.

There was recently one delivered to Tennessee with 600's and I here it is a hand full.

The TN boat w/ 600s is the real deal ! 94 GPS and we are still dialing her in!

I am helping a friend dial in his brand new 30 Outlaw with 496HOs.

Where is the ideal drive trim setting for cruise?
Where is the ideal drive trim setting for top speed?
How far do you guys trim in for turning? (What setting on the indicator?)

Do you ever have/need to run tabs, or do you leave them at neutral at all times?

I can figure all of this out with some seat time, but if I could get some info to start with, it will save us some time.

Thanks a bunch.

Cruise - I usually set the trim on 2, tabs neutral around 5. 3200-3500 rpms yields about 50mph

Top speed - really depends but I believe I usually trim around 6 or 7, tabs up a little bit from neutral

Turns - same as cruise above

Tabs - mine are usually at neutral and mainly use them to level the bow for uneven loads or wind conditions.

My numbers may be slightly different because my boat is 2004 and I've heard that in 2005, Baja lowered the X dimension 1". Just for reference, I'm running stock Bravo 4 Blade 28's and HO's.

Give me a call 985-223-2610. I'm in Houma and would like to check it out before you list it. I'll come to see when you are available.

Damn Josh, you stepping up?

deepsouth 07-26-2007 08:44 AM

Yes if I find the right boat. You know anyone looking for a super mint 25 with 35 hrs. ?

jmeng 07-26-2007 08:50 AM

Actually I might. A guy I know is looking at a new 26 but would think a low hour used boat would tempt him. If you're sure you want to sell, let me know the details and I'll email them to him. Or I can just give him your contact info and let y'all talk.

I have not had time to get a classified up for this 25' Outlaw with 30 hours. I should be able to get to it this week. Let me know if you need more details.
