OK Guys, I've tried searching the boards but couldn't find more than one or two posts on this subject.
My 342 with 22 hours sits in my slip at my marina in fresh water. It doesn't have a coat of bottom paint. What are people's thoughts on this? Some people say it's fine, others say don't let it sit in water more than a week, others say no more than a month at a time, then take it out and let it sit on the trailer for a week...
At the end of the season it will of course be put on the trailer and winterized. I also plan on taking it out of the water every four weeks or so to take it on road trips...
I haven't pulled it out yet but I'm planning to on Sunday and I'm curious as to what I'll find. It will have been in for four weeks. I've inspected the sides of the boat underneath the waterline and they look fine - no blisters or anything - just a little scum that rubs off with my deck brush...
Any thoughts would be appreciated...

its gonna stain. it does come off its just a pain. i would pull it every 2 weeks and clean it up. theres alot of people who leave it in without paint. i leave mine in on weekends so just from one night on the boat i can see a diff. i clean and put away.

My personal opinion is to NOT leave a boat in the water for long periods. Baja as had their lot of blisters problems in the late 90's. Since 2001, they improved their Hulls in order to prevent blisters. Fiberglass in'nt fully water tight and proof. The worst place for water intake is the transom. A fiberglass guy told me that as regular maintenance, We should all remove our accessories like Tabs, swimplatforms etc... at least each two years and fill the holes with fresh 3M 4200.
Bottom paint repeals water and protects your Hull but since your boat is a performance boat, mmmm...
Is'nt bottom paint for cruisers?
I am not a Fiberglass expert, let's see what others have to say... Do whatever makes you feel comfortable.
Have you considered the inflatable docking hoists? These are made to be used in marinas.

I am in the boat painting business and you can take my word for it (or not) when I tell you that if you continue doing what you are currently doing to your boat, you will MOST LIKELY ruin the paint!!!! IT IS NOT A GOOD IDEA to leave a painted boat in the water (fresh or salt) for over a week at a time. Most paint shops WILL NOT cover it under warranty because it is considered ABUSE!!! There have been a few people that claim to have gotten away with storing a painted boat in the water for long periods of time, but you hear alot more stories of paint blistering because of it! You have a very good looking boat (I have seen some of the pics you have posted) and it does not makes sense (to me) to GAMBLE with such a major investment, knowing (or at least now you do) that ODDS ARE IT IS GOING TO BLISTER!!! The way I see it is, spend the money on a lift, or spend it on repainting your boat!!!! (JMO, but you asked
)

Thanks for the advice guys. Unfortunately my marina doesn't allow slipholders to add lifts (Don't ask me why...), so I'll do the week in / week on trailer routine...Not much of a big deal just a pain in the A$$...But worth it to protect the paint.
Note to self: Find new marina for next season that allows lifts!
