On my first and definately considering another when I step up. And I have one of the old ones. 1988 240 Sport. Great handling and looking boat. So far all my issues have been minor. Biggest problem that was attributable to Baja was the wood in the sunpad rotted out. Fixed that myself with marine ply.

I have been toying with a third but a way bigger finicial burden(decision)
I would love a 36 OL. Smithboy on this forum has his for sale.

Here are my cons. Money, tow vechicle, storage, I dont live on the water(very close) so I have to store the boat behind house. With my 29OL I have about 8 feet left. Not sure if a 36OL w/trailor will fit, Insurance in Florida. Maybe only one or two compnaies writing policys now.

I boat in the Gulf and innercoastal. I feel you need a minimal 33 or 36' boat to run in these waters. A run to key west is limited in a 29OL. Seas change all the time.

I also have been looking at other brands. Baja has the tight price and size just like Doc mentioned loses some speed in the bigger boats. Most 35 and up are running 90+.
I am a speed nut . I hit 80mph on a good day. My 29OL w/ho's. a 36 with 496ho's I think low,low 70's . Doc's has a great setup w/his 500's :drink:

Ramble all you want buddy.

One thing to consider also, is that even though a 36 may be slower, you will probably be able to run it faster then the 29 in some water conditions.

A foot is like a mile on a boat and I have passed boats in rough conditions that are 10 to 15 MPH faster then me when the water is smooth.

Dennis, your case of 3-foot-itis (or in your case, 7-foot-itis) has got you bad - pull the trigger buddy!

I've had my '04 342 since Nov '05 and just hit 40 hours today. No major issues. I love the boat and feel very comfortable with it in all sorts of conditions. Generally, Baja's are easy boats to drive fast.

When I was looking, I wanted a fast boat that had all the conveniences. Baja was the only maker I looked at that had a boat with a windshield and full cabin (including A/C as well as a cockpit icemaker, sink, U-shaped lounge seat and bimini top) that would do 70 with decent dealer support for a reasonable price.

When you talk about bang for your buck, I don't see much else out there for the $$$ that compares!

okay, thanks again for everyones input. Here is a question I may get blasted for asking so here it goes.

In my quest for knowledge another boat I am researching is the Velocity 260. From what I have read about them you can reach 70+mph with a 496 mag(375hp) I have heard from Velocity owners that they are solid and ride like a bigger boat and handle the rough stuff well. On the other hand non Velocity owners disagree with the stability in the rough stuff. THe Velocity guys are like a cult and very loyal to there brand which is speaks volumes. On the other hand the new 26 Outlaw is tested at 66 mph with a 496 mag ho (425hp). I would like the most boat and speed for the money. HERE is the question... Who has ridden on the Velocity 260 and how does it compare to the Baja (25') as far as ride and performance? Would I be able to run faster in the rough waters in the Baja than the Velocity? Which has a bigger feel?

I realize this is the Baja forum so some opinions may be bias. That's okay but try to be as fair as possible.

I know a lot of folks that own Velocity's that are very happy with them, and even more that own Baja's that love their brand.

I know of no major problems, flaws, issues, etc with either brand.

The Velocity's are usually faster, however I was just talking to a friend on Norman about a month ago that has not got the speed out of his that he was expecting.

The best thing you can do is not ask for opinions, but go and drive each boat for yourself and choose the one that best serves your needs.
