Twin drives are level but the indicators are way off...

I've always been able to dial the drive indicators
in by rotating the round piece that attaches to
the trim pin, by turning the trim pin.
It acts like that piece may be eccentric,
when you rotate the trim pin, it will
move the actuator in and out slightly.
You then look where the indicator is pointing ( on the dash)
and rotate accordingly (til it lines up with the opposite drives
position)
I know it sounds goofy but it has worked
for me many times.

Well, checked them today before splashing the boat and today they were even. Last night they were one # off. I have no idea why they are OK today and were so far off last evening. Alchohol was not involved. Maybe they were sticking last night or something...
PS - boat ran 66 at WOT (only 4,700 rpms) with a 10 mph wind and slight chop. 2 people on-board, full fuel.

Forget what the tachs say!!!! Get the boat at the speed/trim that you want, then use your ear to listen for the harmonics of the motors to synchronize. Then check your tachs & get a feel for how the readings are relative to each other. I have one tach that reads almost equal at idle, but at 4000 rpm, it is 100 rpm higher than the other. I've taken it out & sent it to Livorsi to have bench checked twice, and it still reads 100 rpm higher.
I synch the motors by listening to the harmonics, and forget what the tachs say.
