Guys help me out. I need your opinions.
Give me your honest opinion here. I'm having a real struggle with this.
The horns on my 36 Outlaw are a JOKE. You cannot here them over the engine except at idle and they have been replaced twice in 4 years now.
I am very safety conscious and horns are a required and necessary item for safety on the water. Especially at the speeds we travel.
I am giving serious consideration to installing some REAL horns on the side of my boat.

This link will show you the style I have in mind.
Do you agree that this is the best way to go and they will not look that bad, or do you think this is a big mistake on a Performance boat and know of a better option?
Let's here it guys.
Thanks for you opinions in advance.

I understand the safety conscious part and you are right the marine horns are not the best. Those are nice horns and would do a great job, but they would not be my cup of tea on a performance boat. I'm sure you would make them look very tasteful Dock.

I used to have those on a Chapparal I owned in the '80's. They only worked well for about one year and then they got wet inside and sounded like a cat getting run over. Also, once slipped on wet deck and hit those with my foot. Ripped them right off the deck and hurt like hell. Ouch.

Doc,
Can you take your horns and move them near a vent inside the boat or engine compartment so you hear the horn outside of the boat. I had the trumpets on a larson senza performance factory and I didn't like the looks of them and they were always in the way of the mooring cover not to mention they flew up out of the bracket in windy conditions at normal speed. Just my opinion.

Doc,
I completely understand you concern about safety. I have complained about my horn several times as well. I personally don't like air horns on any type of boat besides a cruiser. I think the horns would stick out like a sore thumb on the clean lines of your gorgeous 36 OL.

The horn on my 40 Outlaw is very loud. I believe it is an air horn. Sounds cool too.
It is installed into the bow and does not look bad.
Good luck on your decision.
