Anyone heard of "B36" ?
I have learned that there is a 1998 or 1999 Model Baja 36 Outlaw in a barn in Texas that can be bought right.
The story I'm told is the boat came from Baja as a race boat and was called "B36". It is suppose to have 850 HP motors in it with #5 drives. Do any of you know anything about this boat? |
Re: Anyone heard of "B36" ?

Re: Anyone heard of "B36" ?
I remember watching a couple of races on TV
back around 98' and seeing it run. As I recall, it had the same paint scheme as the old 420 pace boat with the triple 800sc's I also recall seeing it for sale many moons ago, but can't remeber where. |

Very interesting. I have sent some emails off to a couple of folks from Baja inquiring also. Thank you for the reply. P.S. I'm not interested in buying the boat as much as learning a little Baja history. If anyone is interested let me know and I can get you in touch with the person that has a lead on it. |
Re: Anyone heard of "B36" ?
I'm really not that old---but my Social Security number only has 3 digits :D I think if they carded me my first response would be "Thank you". Evidently I'm not old enough to figure out whats wrong with the damn boat---thats why I appreicate y'all so much--your suggestions and advise are VERY much appreicated!! If I can just remember what you said between here and the garage :(

Re: Anyone heard of "B36" ?
Doc,
It was built as a race boat. No cabin and only stand up bolsters. I have all the specification sheets at home. I also have the original build sheet that was supplied by BAJA and this boat was specified as a race boat. It has staggered 510 C.I. Hawk naturally aspirated engines running to SSM IV drives. I also have some photos taken of this boat. It ran in the high 80's and crushed the waves and it was extremely competitive on the turns. It was built for and competed in the former APBA "B" class. It was advertised at one time in Powerboat magazine along with the Poker Run boat with the triple 800SC Mercruisers. Both boats shared the same paint scheme. Please contact me and I can provide you with these documents. Jeff |

For those that don't have the pleasure of knowing you personally they are missing out on knowing a true boater, a Baja fan and a wealth of knowledge. I should have known you would have the answers. Please forward me anything that you have on B36. Many thanks Doc |

Re: Anyone heard of "B36" ?
How much is "bought right"?
|
Re: Anyone heard of "B36" ?
50k :evilb:
|
Re: Anyone heard of "B36" ?
He told my buddy he wanted $100K for it.
When he said that was too much, he said to just make him an offer, that he wants it gone. We think $40K to $50K. If it has just been sitting in a barn for a couple of years it need some work. |
Re: Anyone heard of "B36" ?

Thanks very much for posting the picture. I would love to own that boat, but need another one like I need a hole in the head. If you find out any details let me know. I am very curious about the boat and the reports that is really wants it out of his way. May be a good deal and a fun boat for poker runs for sure. Dock |
Re: Anyone heard of "B36" ?
I am sure he wants it to go away, but he is NOT hurting for money! I know what he has in it and that is probably the least amount he would take! I might be wrong, but I doubt if he "gives" it away. I am sure he could make someone a good deal on it though!

Re: Anyone heard of "B36" ?
A few details I learned about the "B36" Outlaw Race Boat.
It was built as a race boat from the factory for a then Baja dealer named Mike Hoffman. The boat was shipped without power. It did not have any cuddy or back seat. Originally it was raced with 700 HP motors and #3 drives with old style transmissions. It ran in the low 80's and interestingly enough it ran almost as fast on smooth water as rough water. The boat never did have a first place finish, but did have a second, third and a couple of fifth place finishes on the race circuit. |

Okay, a SPECIAL thank you to Mr. Jeff Akers who sent me this email and ad.
Mark, Attached is an add from Powerboat in the year 2000. I have more photos and a build sheet somewhere at home. I have just got to find them. Enjoy. Thank you. Regards, Jeff Aker I did not know that B-36 was a staggered setup. |
Re: Anyone heard of "B36" ?
I would love to have the 420. There was talk here, I think of it still being around. Is that true & what is the story with it?
