This is a interesting thread. I used to work at Baja in 1975. I was there in 1976 when they had the fire that destroyed the plant. I wish I had some of the brochures from back then when I was at the boat show. It was a nice place to work and brings back alot of memories.

Dock,

Does it give production #'s by year? If so, where did you find it on TBM?

These numbers did not come from TBM they came from Greg (Teambaja) here on OSO.

Don't quote me, but it seems to me that they are the same boat, only the ES is what they started calling the Sport series in the early 90s.
ES=European Sport.
Could be wrong, but I seem to recall it that way.

No, you are very correct! That was a model designation for 1990 ONLY......You can even see this in the NADA book under the 1990 model year. Here are the meanings of the designations:
ES - European Sport
ESS - European Super Sport
DSR - Deep Sport Runabout
DVX - Deep Vee Xpress
SK - Skier
SVR - Sport Vee Runabout
FS - Fish & Ski
SVF - Sport Vee Fish

This was dropped in 1991, and we went to using Islander again, or just numbers. But the "Bandit" was born that year!

More names like Magnum, Bandit II, 38 Special, and Outlaw started in 1992.

I have quite a collection of brochures that belonged to Fred Miller that date back into the 70s if you ever want to look through them. I plan on getting them out one day this winter!

Dave,

What did the Magnum look like? I have never heard of that model I think.

Which boat was available in the late 90's that had the center console that looked a little automotive? It was a small boat maybe 19 foot. I remember seeing one at the marina where we kept our 212 Islander and thought it was a pretty cool looking boat.

Thanks
Mark
