1972 16' Baja

Hi, Just happened on this thread and looks like I'll need a week to read all of it. I have a 1972 Baja Hull # GC11726M83G Pics in my album because too noob to put inline here yet....
I've always wondered about her origins and never was able to find the complete specs or brochure on her.... she used to be Candy Apple Red glitter with a possible bronze bottom.... she had been redone in yellow topside and white hull long before I got her and remains so to this day....

She had a "tired" 3 Cylinder 70 HP on her, but when that threw a rod, I put a 4 cylinder 90 on her with power tilt/trim and she's topped out at 40 MPH, with the set up... she's too old a girl to beat the piss out of, so I just keep her at about 30 MPH and try not to slam too many wakes....

Anyone have any info on this early model??

Hey, I was wondering.... this Baja has no "capacity" plate on it referring to # of people and max weight... any ideas what the specs could be???

Mine was the 2017 Sendel Wheels Centerfold. Viper wheels we put on with Maxis tires.

With information from X-T over the years, this started in 2012 when I bought it. As far as I know, there were 3 1992's, some later in the year had 1992 numbers taken out, but are 1993's. NADA does not list the 1992. One out East in Maryland, Irish Tornado on here and everywhere, has the different color one with Red and Gray. His is at this time the best in condition. He did a complete build of the whole boat. His wood was in bad shape, the one out east has had bad wood. Mine, luckily is still solid in that area. The only upgrades to mine when I got it was the engines and outdrives were upgraded to 2001. I have a log book of everything ever done from previous owner.

Hi Dock,
3 year ago I purchased a 1989 Baja 216 DSR. It has a 5.7 merc and Bravo 1. It is 22' long with an open bow. I can't seem to find any information on this model. Was this a prototype for the Islander? Any information you could give me would be much appreciated. I tried to upload pictures but I am new to this forum and not allowed yet.

Never seen or heard of a Baja Renegade. I have the 1994 dealer brochure and it's not in there...
Sounds like an interesting boat, from what I can find on the 'Net...

sorry for the late response lol. From what I was told from someone at Baja back in 2000, the DSR models were just for a few years that they didn’t use the islander name. I don’t know about the 216, but the 190 Hull was used in several other models through the mid/late 90s.

I have a 1990 sales brochure and dealer pricing book sitting on my dresser will try to post the info it has on the 216 tomorrow.

Way ahead of it's time.

If you want to know if Baja is a quality product, you need to look no further. There are a LOT of these still on the water and they have a real presence.

I'm not sure that BlackThunder was even on the drawing boat when this massive wave crushing luxury performance offshore cruiser hit the waterways.

Here is an example of a 1991 model.

My dad had a 1990 250 at the Lake of the Ozarks. Are condo neighbor got the 91 with triples the next year. Man that thing was a beast. Baja are great boats. I even remember the cost of are boat. It was very reasonable for the time. It seemed like those boats were way more affordable then.
