+1 one on that Tom

Jeff,

Thanks very much for the added pictures of the 420. Can you share any other performance data on the boat?

Doc

Anybody know where the 420 Pace boat is now?

boatman22 10-26-2009 12:30 PM

I was just talking to Skip Pillsbury who works for Marine Max( I rent them space to them) and he has the Baja Poster and RC model of the 420 Pace Boat.

Cool

I have a really nice picture of the boat taken by CigDaze (formerly "BajaDaze) taken years ago in Tampa Bay at an APBA race.

I also have a beautiful like new poster thanks to our good friend Jay "Never Enough".

It is a VERY cool boat. I was just thinking about the story Blane Aarup told me of when he was driving the boat at around 90 MPH and they slung a blade off one of the props!

Since he has gone through this boat he has used it very little, less than 100 hours on it. Mike has around $280,000 invested in this boat and a-lot of time. It is for sale and could be purchased for $169,000. This boat is extremely mint!!!

We are going to make your poker run next year come hell or high water. You always have it on the same weekend as the Jacksonville run but I plan to do all new different events next year and look forward to seeing you.

I'm not sure that I'm man enough for one on one with that beauty!:evilb:

Yup, I think Doc might be more of a man than he's giving him self credit for.

No doubt about it, that 420 is loud!!

JT as I was scrolling through my photos look what I stumbled across...

(I hope I'm not hi-jacking your thread!)

You know I need to get Doug to add something to my boat while at Checkmate so we can call it a "Doug Smith" addition.

Jeff are we going to get you and some of the IA crew back to St.Clair in June? I'm sure Steve can fill you in that it's worth the trip.

Not quite the real thing, but we have a replica, remote controll boat, of the B-36 race boat. This was awarded to Hawkeye Boat Sales back in 1998 (with out the motor & drive).

I also recall seeing a picture of that B-36' race boat (back when it was racing) getting huge air. Does anyone know where I would have seen that (news paper / magazine)?

JT - yes, Kustom Kolors painted your boat.

Dave - I'm certainly going to keep that as one of my top things to do next summer. Thanks!! I spoke with Steve about it and he said it was an absolute blast.

Sweet RC boat! Look forward to it Jeff. We missed you down at Cumberland this year. Couldn't find anyone wanting to stay up all night like you.

Took this picture of the old BAJA factory from a distance Saturday. I took the little "70" Honda to moms for the kids to ride and took a little ride through the woods to check the place out. Funny that I never realized how big the place was when I worked there. Its been broken into several times since it was closed. Heard one guy had his truck inside the gate at a loading dock and was found stealing copper pipe. I also found a spot in the fence that looks like it had been pulled away that you could get in. Not sure why anyone would risk going in there and getting caught.

(Sorry about the small picture, it was taken on my phone)

Was probably the same guys that got caught robbing the old Rubbermaid plant up the road from you in Wooster.

Scum.... :angry-smiley-038:

Sad turn of events over the last couple of years. Hopefully sometime in the future the history of BAJA will continue with the revival of the brand.

Until someone gets the product line that has a real PASSION for the brand I would not expect much.

How many of you saw the 36 Outlaw with Mercury 900's?

To my knowledge this was the only 900HP 36 Outlaw boat with #6 drives ever built by Baja.

I believe it is a 1999 model if memory serves me correct.

Let's go FISHING!

Now here is one I bet most of you guys have never seen.

How about a 36 Outlaw with triple outboards!

The story on this boat as I know it was that it came from Baja just like all the rest with I/O power. The owner had his feel of problems runing in salt water and converted this boat over.

I have no clue how it runs, handles, etc but I think it is pretty cool.

No sorry,

I know a little about a lot but nothing about building boats.

Thanks for the kind words but I assure there are a lot of us passionate Baja owners.

I do know a few guys in Ohio that could Get-R-Done.

Take care

Hey you remember that promise he made?

"Doc leave you boat at home and just come up. We'll provide you with a boat next year!"

Now I not only have to bring my boat back up but I'll probably have to ride him around also!:lolhit:

Doc,

Lane remembers this boat well. It was the only one to have a padded motorlid with the scoops installed, and it was quite a job to do. It is the only one produced by Baja, but I think we built a blank that was simular, at a later date? What did Mike's B-36 have in it for power?
