Ebay rant!!! GGGRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!
So an independent person is selling overstock or closeouts for Baja Marine. They've been selling a bunch of the full covers for outlaws/islander's/and other parts. I've bid on 4 of the nice, colored covers like a black one and a grey one. The grey really doesn't go with my boat, but at this point, I didn't care. I've also bid on 2 of the cheaper ones that are better for the weather, that are white in color. I've lost every auction by a matter of a few dollars. I bid one a black one that ended at $520!@!! Lost by $10
Here's the last one I bid on: http://cgi.ebay.com/BAJA-25-OUTLAW-S...QQcmdZViewItem Then I get a "seller non-performance" alert issued and my account is banned. I sold a satellite receiver for $10 +$8 shipping. THe buyer sent an e-check through Paypal, which took a few days to clear, then I shipped it out 4 days later. A few days after that, he filed a complaint on me, without even bothering to contact me about it. He also left negative feedback. Today, the issue was resolved when he recieved the item. Since my account was locked, I couldn't bid or "buy it now", and guess what? Another cover like the last one pops up with a $100 buy it now price from a different user. A friend of mine let me use his account to buy it last night so I did that, then payed through paypal immediately after. When I got home from work today I get this email: Message From Seller: I'm sorry to say that the boat cover you bought can not be found in our inventory. It was mistakenly listed as a 25'Outlaw, when in fact it is a 23'Outlaw. We will refund your money in full immediately. Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused. Kim WTF!!!!??????!!?!?!?!?!?! What's it gonna take for me to buy a daMMn cover for my boat short of spending $800 on a new one? This is ridiculous. Another thing, I searched the username of the person that has so many covers on there and found a thread about them on TBM. There's a statement about where that user had been banned twice for supposedly having friends bid on items to drive the price up.     |
Re: Ebay rant!!! GGGRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!
THER ARE OTHER STORES THAT YOU CAN BUY TO FIT COVERS FOR UNDER 500 BIG ONES I'll try and look them up this weekend going for operation in the moring so I 'll try this weekend and post unless I'm dead  art

Re: Ebay rant!!! GGGRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!
I think there needs to be some kind of investigation on this. My buddy also tried to buy a couple covers for his 33 Outlaw and there was a user that continuously out-bid him. The same exact scenario... He was out-bid by just a few dollars every time.
I also think I have some links at home of some custom fit covers. I will also try to dig them up. |
Re: Ebay rant!!! GGGRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!
Thanks guys. In the last 2 months, there's only been 2 users on ebay that have sold those covers:
speed4u0 (the one that sells the most, and is accused of friends bidding) the corner sundry (the last one that sold a cover they didn't have) Good luck on the surgery AirTime :D |
Re: Ebay rant!!! GGGRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!
Back when I purchased my 245 (2004) I purchased a Shoremaster Prism cover from Iboats.com. At that time it was the only place I could find a custom fit cover for the 245. Even Baja did not have a cover for it yet. For my 245 it was just under $500 and I have been very happy with it. I noticed the same cover for a 25 Outlaw is just over $500.00. It was custom fitted for my boat and the fit is very good. I have towed with it a couple times and it has also done very well. Granted the one that Baja makes is very nice, but I was not about to spend that kind of coin for a new one from them.
Here is a link. http://iboats.com/mall/coverfinder/?...t_id=715578176 |
Re: Ebay rant!!! GGGRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!
Thanks for the link, but I like these covers because they don't have straps that go below the boat. These have a ratchet strap all the way around that goes below the rub-rail.
|
Re: Ebay rant!!! GGGRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!
I have bought a ton of stuff from speed4u. never a problem. I bought a canvas custom cover for my 36 for $120!!!
it is freaking brand new too. also bought a cockpit cover for the 36 for about the same price. |
Re: Ebay rant!!! GGGRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!
I'm not having trouble with the seller speed4u0, I'm having trouble beating everyone else's bid. I just bid $200 on one that ends in one hour. All the ones in the completed auctions have sold for under $150.
|
Re: Ebay rant!!! GGGRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!
I have also bought things from speed4u and 100% happy
|
Re: Ebay rant!!! GGGRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!
Just lost another one
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...3019975&rd=1,1 Bid was $205, I bid $225, then raised that to $250 in the last 1 minute. Lost it by $5. Watch, they'll list another one in the next hour. |

No problem. I like the Baja covers as well. The ratchet strap is genius. My buddy just got one for his 20 Outlaw. If Speed4U would ever have one for a 245 I would definitely bid on it. |
Re: Ebay rant!!! GGGRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!
SPEED4U is baja's user name on ebay
|
Re: Ebay rant!!! GGGRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!
SPEED4UO is not Baja it is a company that is selling off Baja's old parts inventory. I have personally been there several times and have spent over $30,000.00 with them. A lot of the items that you have been outbid on I bought.I bid every day on there items and if I get them for the rite price I buy them. There are more Baja's than any other performance boat and they will all need parts down the road I am just getting ready check my Ebay items under seller 3baja2.
As far as them getting shut down that was a mistake made by the lady that runs the auction ( Hi Marcy) that ebay should have not shut them down for. Ebay is a risky business because they will shut you down without notice that is why I am setting up my own web site for boat parts and to promote my marine repair business it will be HP-Marine.com I have a company building the site and should be up within the month. I will also advertise on here and 2 other offshore boat sites. I am currently trying to buy up old inventory from a couple of other well known boat manufactures. Brian |

Does it strike you that your potential customer base has already been screwed by you and obviously pissed off about it??? Good luck!!!! jony, here is another link for covers. They do not have a ratchet strap but I figured I would post anyway. http://www.coverquest.com |

They do not have a ratchet strap but I figured I would post anyway. http://www.coverquest.com When I read this post I called Marcy to see if she had any more 25 covers available for jonyb that she could offer to him with a second chance offer and I gave her the info on this site but they are all out of them. She was amused at the misinformation and this thread so I told her I would tell you guy's the truth. I am sorry if you guy's think what I am doing is wrong but again if I don't somebody else will and there are other people doing it as I track a lot of the sales and see them the next week for sale by the same person that won at up to 10 times what they payed for the item. Any item I have won and resold I have sold for around 50 percent of what you would have payed from manufacturer or Baja themselves but again I have to make a profit as I am a business. First I have to put up the money, spend time to pick up the items, inventory them, list them, pay to resell them and ship them not to mention the $10,000.00 I have wrapped up in a packing system to make sure that the items get to the customer it good condition. Sorry if I offended anybody Brian |
Re: Ebay rant!!! GGGRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!
Look at it this way if I do not do this and you need these parts in the future where are you going to get them. Business is business and as far as covers go I have only won 2 a 36 and a 302 soft cover both of them I got for $150.00 or less and you are just as able to out bid me as I am you. Well, that is my rant for the day, time to watch College Game Day. :evilb: |

I appreciate that, if it's the truth, but I don't believe it because Marcy has a 25 Outlaw shipping cover listed right now. Everytime one cover ends, 2 hours later, it's relisted. Where's the misinformation anyway? |

You can put a spin on it if you wish like you are just trying to help us Baja owners when we are looking for the parts in the future, but all you are doing is running up the price on them.
This is true, but if that is the case let me ask you this. If you pay $150.00 for a cover on Ebay, what will be your price selling it yourself? Well, that is my rant for the day, time to watch College Game Day. :evilb: |

Where's the misinformation anyway? Marcy is not a member here but I will call her Monday and see if I can PM you her phone # to verify my statement about trying to help you out. The misinformation was about there Ebay site being closed down and that it was sales directly from Baja. The site was closed for a couple of weeks I just wanted to let you know that it was not for something terrible they did it was a mistake that was made. Also that they had somebody bidding up there items to drive up the prices that is why I came on here in the first place to let you know it is not true as I also get outbid on a daily basis and out of anger sometimes I bid more than I should just to get the item but only if I need it for myself. |
Re: Ebay rant!!! GGGRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!
jonyb,
I just took a good look at the white cover I have and it appears to be made of a plastic material with a felt coating on the boat side. The material it is made of is like the cheap plastic blue tarps you can buy but without the cloth matting in it. I think these covers were made for Baja to ship the boats to its dealers to keep the boats clean for delivery and not as a primary cover. I do see that there is 1 for sale and has 1 bid if it is you good luck on winning and I am sure it will work for you but I do not see it lasting more than 1 winter outside. Brain |

I don't get it??? I understand business is business but I agree with haulinvols, you are just grabbing these items out from under other Baja owners expecting that they will buy from you later for 40% more. |
Re: Ebay rant!!! GGGRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!
Ebay is an auction site. High bidder wins. Put in your MAXIMUM bid to start with. Then, if you dont win you shouldnt feel so bad.

As for your second comment I have just as much right to purchase these items for what ever reason I choose and if you or anybody else does not like it out bid me and as I said earlier items I purchase for resale I only bid to a point that I know I can sell it for a 40 percent markup which is in most cases still 50 percent less than what it would have been if you had purchased it from Baja or the original manufacture. Like TEAMBAJA said if you do not bid enough and you wanted it and lose you did not want it bad enough to pay the price. Call me an opportunist if anything but that is what this country is all about. |

I came on here to answer some of the comments made by johyb 1 that Speed4U0 had somebody bidding up there items for them to get more money for there items. My comment that I bid on them so that that in general when you get out bid if you see the buyer 3baja2 its me, 2 that there site was shut down twice for it very untrue.

But as all of these statements are true I also believe we are all entitled to have our own opinions and express them with out being called names. Right??? I didn't even bid on any of the auctions or care to have anything being sold by speed4yo. I just think what you are doing is not right. I personally try my best to make friends with the Baja community and other performance boaters for that matter and don't wish to make a "quick" buck off of them. I have stated my opinion and I stand behind it. |
Re: Ebay rant!!! GGGRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!
this thread answers alot of questions i had. man i've been trying to buy a 33 cover since before they got banned then came back and i was always outbid trying to get a decent deal. i don't have a dog in this fight what so ever and agree making a buck is a buck but coming on here and semi bragging throwing it in our face about buying everything and spending 10 k here and 250k in inventory there and my own shop and new biz yada yada yada kind of rubs me the wrong way. but after reading that i was still on the fence till the idiot phrase came out.....now good luck convincing everybody to come to you at a mark up for your baja parts!

Re: Ebay rant!!! GGGRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!
haulinvols,
I do sell and will continue to sell parts like I have done for the past 27 years. All my customers come back because I give each and everyone of them the same service I expect when I purchase something weather or not they are idiots so if in the future if you need any parts that I am the only one that has them you are welcome to purchase them also. Tbairos, If you think that this is a way to make a quick buck you are sadly mistaken the time that I spend on the computer, picking up the parts 120 miles away, listing, selling, packaging and shipping averages about 40 hours a week at the same time I run and do 100 percent of the repairs in my shop. I work 7 days a week and did not even get to go on my boat this year all the boating I did was test drives so when the quick buck comes I think I will be in titled to it but what I am doing is for future sales and I will continue to move forward in any manor I see fit even if it means pissing off a few of the guy's here that seem to be bothered by it. |
Re: Ebay rant!!! GGGRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!
Reeking Havoc, Maybe the idiot part is out of line but I am not the only person on this site that has gone threw this as I have had 2 people here PM me today with the same issues that I am going through here and total agree with what I have said but do not wish to get involved as they were and will be hit with the same crap.I have also tried to get a 33 cover for my boat and have been outbid ever time but I was able to get the cheaper white cover. As far as self promotion that is part of the business. I came on here originally just to stop the BS about Speed4UO and it snowballed as it always does. This will be the last time I address this issue and jonyb good luck in finding a cover.

Re: Ebay rant!!! GGGRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!
i will say for the record i've dealt with Speed4UO on a couple of auctions i've won a while ago and have nothing but good things to say about them. got some good deals and fast shipping i guess to many baja people know about them now and the good deals have dried up. all i can do is try to snag one of the 33 covers i got really exicted when i saw they had a black one up for the first time even stopped in office in the middle of the day to bid until i saw what it was going for.

Re: Ebay rant!!! GGGRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!
I say do what you gotta do, If you can buy low and sell for a profit, then why not, if you enjoy it and can make money on it, It is no different than used car dealers buying from the auction and resaling for retail, mabye I see it this way because Im a bussiness owner, I build homes to sell to pay my bills and if I run across a foreclosure or something, I would snag it and flip it for a profit, but thats how I make a living. Mabye Im wrong though, Thats just my honest opinion, and theres no sense for anyone getting mad through a keyboard because its just that, If it wasnt a good deal, there will be one somewhere, just gotta be patient

All I have are pics from before and the motors ready to go in. Mike at Mcleod interiors is doing a 1 off custom interior with his newest bolsters and the boat name done on the engine hatch , I have XS hydraulic steering, all new gages with a custom dash that faces more upright than the stock cluster for better viewing, shifters, switches, sound system, totally rewiring the boat with a modern harness. When it is done will also consider a different paint scheme.
