Oh yes, the 525 in my 25 really does it for me, but that may have something to do with the where I use it and for what purpose!

Wild Card, We were in your hood about a year ago. Beutiful country! Flew into Stuttgart, Then we based our stay out of Freiburg. We saw Basel, Mullhouse then over to Munich. The black forest is really nice. Sure would have liked to gone for a boat ride on one of the local lakes. Oh yea cant for get the Porche factory!!!!
Maybe next time.

It looks good with the 3'' shorter ex with the box. I am happy with my 2'' shortie as well. by the way my mom from HERXOGENAURACH near NURNBERG about 20 or 30 kl I think. I have not been there since I was A TEEN, thats my fault though I had plenty of chances to go back, I hope to in the nexted 2 years. also hope to jump from 83 to 85 or with help from BBLADES Your boat looks great love the colors. art

oh the pantrea old design hull like my 24ol but the 26 is new windtunnel design I think or has some of the improvements of the 30 and 35. if you could get a 600 for under 115,000 that would be nice.

@Oklaoutlaw, Airtime. Well how about that! If you do plan a trip over, let me know and I will show you some great water and good boating!
Freiburg is just down the road from where the above pics were taken on the Rhine river. Nurnberg isnīt far from Stuttgart either.

@gcoutlaw - I can fully understand your viewpoint that the next step up from a 67 mph 25 footer is somewhere over 30 foot and 75+ mph (otherwise you will feel like you upgraded to less speed/excitement) . however going up to 80+ mph and staying with the 25 footer and a single has alot going for it. Resale is only one of the many cost factors that we are all confronted with. Insurance, storage and fuel costs all increase with the bigger boat - sevice, props, drive repairs and anything you want to do to increase power are all DOUBLE with twin motors.
I think the 26/600 makes alot of sense. i would order mine with the Imco box as on my 25 and expect to see 85 mph once Iīve dialed it in, together with the rough water handling of a 30 footer.

AH yes I always went with more speed same size .In 1990 when I bought boat it had a 330 454 b drive,23 mirage did 60 at 4700 to 4800. then went to a merc 390hp 502 in 93 it did 67., then 95 rebuilt upper, dry headers made 585hp in the fall broke a rocker stud bent valve 96 made 595hp carb change, then 2001 merlin heads pistons, rods made 650hp running about 74, then 2006 new drive 2''shortie 1050 dom from nickerson and runnig 81 to 83 hope to be 86 after repropping with new 4 or 5 blade plus gutting the boat this winter while I'M HEALING GOING WITH FOAM CORE BULKHEADS AND MAYBE FLOORS to lighten it more speed to then strip in the fall and put all the parts into a new joker28,sutphen 32, if I am working at full speed, designing my custom rugs again. the 24 25 26 works well in most water. the shortie drive gave me like 4 to 5 mph everyone was like gee 650hp and your only running 74 maybe 75. oh I have replaced the bolsters to with custom ones that go in and out to hold you in.gauges throttle bigger k plane plates 380s and on and on. we will hock up when we make it over soon.

I've test driven the 26 with a 496 mag. It looks good, feels good, but the excitement factor is not there. Things don't really come alive til your well into the 70's. I noticed someone has a 30' baja with twin 525's. Man that must cook. But I'm going to be on a lake. A big lake, but still a lake. If I were still up in maryland near the bay I would consider twins, and some more length. But for a big carolina lake I can't imagine much fun in anything larger than 25-29' single. It's hard for me to understand why everyone defaults to the 496ho. Resale? I wouldn't buy a boat based on what I might sel it for someday. I suppose it is a consideration, but only a small one. My big beef with Baja is that the mark up is crazy on the blue motors.

Anyone know who the best Baja dealer in the country for decent pricing?

What lake do you boat on?

As far as dealers go, be careful and make sure you take things into consideration such as service after the sale, warranty work etc if you purchase from a dealer outside your area. A dealer is much more likely to take care of his own customers first, then all the rest later.

If I may ask, I have never shopped blue motors before, but just how much more is Baja asking for the upgrade than say Fountain or other builders?

We moved to Charlotte from the DC area. Lake Norman will be our home by next summer. You ever over this way?

The mark up is actually a bit blurry, and after looking ove rmy numbers, I don't think Baja is much (or any) worse than fountain etc.
Looks like approx 20-23k jump from the 496ho to the 525. and another 15 to the 600. It shocked me at first because it looked like Pantera and others with pricing available on the web showed a 14-15k jump to the 525. I realize now, they may not be including hydraulic steering with that.
Anyway. It is hard to justify doing the 600 in a 26 but I would love it for the speed capability! Should easily clip 80. Might be able to see 82-83 gps? Best price I have to date is 26sst with a bunch of options around 105k with the 525 and 120k with the 600.

I have not been to Lake Norman yet, but I know that is Dock's stomping grounds. We do come visit Lake Hartwell every year for the Poker Run. I know Norman has some nice hardware running around and plenty of larger boats from what I hear. Maybe I will run into you over there one day. I would like to visit there some time.
