Checked with Merc and they said they did not have any specs on the oil temp. I guess i'll check to make sure the gauges are hooked up correctly and go from there. Merc said they do not install oil temp sensors on their engines????

The black motors don't have an oil cooler
thermostat, so if you're running in cold
water and not running it real hard, you
may not see much for temperature.

The blue motors do have an oil cooler
thermostat, they will divert oil from the
oil cooler 'til a certain oil temp. is reached.

I was running mine this last weekend in
40* water and was still maintaining 140*
of oil temp.

Jay,
Mine barely move off 140 either. In the summer they move a little bit but not too much.

So how are you liking the 30? Have you gotten used to the twins yet? More importantly, have you opened her up yet to see what she can do?

I'm running carbed 500hp's and see about 180 on one and if I stay in it to long on the other can reach over 200. That worries me a little.

Don't let it worry you unless you really have a problem. Anything below 250 degrees on oil temp is okay.

Chris,
Was out last friday for about 4 or 5 hours. Really like the way it rides(no other boats out) and the difference between the single and twins is huge. I ran it up a couple of times and with 6 people 3/4 tank of gas and a 1/2 empty cooler it ran about 73 on the lie-o-meter. I didn't think that was to bad for the first time running it hard. I'm still practicing the docking stuff--( I think I'm going to ask Outlaw Ed to help me ). So far we reeeeeeally like the boat. I did find out the fastest thing on the boat was the gas gauge--that thing goes down faster than my first ex.
