When I trim to 7-8 any littel swell and I am chinew walking and usually back off throttles.
As some know I am close to pulling the trigger on a 35 Donzi ZR. I have not rode in one but been speaking with alot of folks and a Donzi Rep. He claimed I would not be trimming a ZR over 5. Him and my Local boat rep claim the same Baja needs alot of trim for Max speed. I dont know so dont argue.

I know when I trim...... my stern does lift out of the water big time.
Not trying to hijack just trying to understand some facts on speed.

My 29 ran best in the "6" neighborhood

By 7 or 8 you were loosing speed.

My 33 works best in the "6" neighborhood also.

Two of my friends have 36's, they need to be cranked up to "8" to make them run,
they both have boxes, but the drives seem mounted kind of low, I think the
drives being buried are what's causing the need for excess trim on these two.

Dock,
Where do yours run ?

When I bought my 24 Outlaw in 97 new, the old owner of Baja had a son that built a 97 29 with (I believe) Merc 800's. It was out here and the sales guy I bought my boat from went for a ride in it out in the Pacific. Scared the crap out of him!:D

I don't know the exact numbers. Maybe Doc remembers the boat. I just remember seeing it and being in love. It was BAAAD! It had the purple splash graphics like my old Baja but was done to the 9's. I guess you can do that when daddy owns the company.:D

The 29 and 36 numbers are what ive experienced as well. the 36 takes a TON of trim. the 29 would lose speed after a certain level of trim.

I couldn't agree more. I have people ask all the time what I trim to and where I have the tabs set...........I don't really know how to answer.

I am constantly adjusting the drives when I am running hard during a poker run or something. I don't see how the h3ll you can run balls out without killing the boat or beating the chit out of yourself.

I mean it's not like the Ronco Rotisserie.....you can't just "set it and forget it"
