my buddy has 1100+ HP in his baja, and runs 98. There is definatley some speed limitations in these hulls.

I think the first clue should have been that the motor doesn't fit. :D :D :D Could always put a turbine between the bolsters?

I´d be the last person to talk anybody out of a 33 foot boat with twin 525 EFI´s in it!

I, however, do my boating in a part of the world where we pay $6 per gal. already. So my viewpoint is probably different to anyone in the US.
I run 80 mph in my 25 OL no problem, running 5-6 motor hours between tanking up the 90 gal tank.

The 3" lift extension box makes my boat both fast and efficient, and helped by full hydraulic steering and 24" tabs, makes it run really nice and smooth at high speeds in nasty water.
There is no doubt about it, running at these speeds in a 25 foot boat is about driving, and not just holding onto the wheel.

But no-one here, not even Cig owners gets to laugh at my little 25!!

So to answer your question, I´m sure that based on my boats performance, you will see your 85 mph GPS if you simply put Merc racing´s 600SCi in it, together with the above mentioned mods, and live to tell the tale.
Yes, Baja hulls are slow. A 600 in a 28 Howard Bullet does 90 mph, but not in the chop that I´m usually running in.

That is SICK and I'm not sure if "sick" is good or bad!

I agree with what you say and fully understand why you run a 25.

Your boat is one of the nicest 25's I have ever seen and you can sure be proud of it and the speeds you get.

I hope I can meet up with you some day. You need to come over to the states and do a poker run with us.

I'd bet you could do it with 675hp -especially if followed Wild Cards lead with the extension box etc. If you want to stick with the 25- more power to you. Boating is a hobby, as is tweaking boats to make them run fast. 85mph in a 25' boat is heck of a lot more exciting than 85 in a big boat with twins.
