It's true it can be less maintenance, especially if your boat is going to sit in the water i.e. boat slip with no lift. It helps to prevent biological growth from accumulating on the hull, which can be a real pain to clean off if the the boat has sat in the water extended periods of time. This application is very popular for large cruisers and yachts.
Most performance boat enthusiasts prefer their boats on trailers or lifts- we're all anal about appearances and flash, and a scum line or bottom paint to prevent that scum line will detract from the overall appearance of the boat. The 'wipe-down" is a ritual you'll see most everyone accomplish right after removing their baby from the water after a day's boating.
If you haven't noticed already, bottom-painted performance boats are usually priced less than ones that haven't been; the pool of potential buyers being much smaller.
If the look doesn't bother you and you can stand a few mph loss, or you plan on leaving the boat in the water for a long period of time, go for it.

Bottom painted or not, looks like alot of boat for the money. Just be prepared to spend more on unforseen things. You know what BOAT stands for?

There is a mid 90's 32 baja that has been in our local boat trader that is claimed to be a new, never titled 454 mag boat still held by the original dealer for mid 50's,but I just read someone claimed the 32 hull was the worst riding boat they had ever been in on another thread,Smitty

Well......I decided to slow down and search a little closer to home...really would like something with a/c in the cabin.

First boat... 32 ft. Seems kind of aggressive regardless of how slow or fast it is. My first boat was an 18ft Larsen. :)

Where are you planning on using the boat? Also, have you thought about your tow vehicle yet?

The 320 was a rough ride the 32 Caliber which became the Outlaw is one of the best riding Baja's ever made.

I see a couple of things I would question the owner about if it were me.

1. How long has it been stored in the water? (botttom paint)
2. Was the transom checked for moisture when the stringers were replaced?
3. 5K for that trailer???? No way. Alulmlinum trailer could mean that it is a salt-water boat, and if so, you need to have a number of other things checked for corrosion.
4. Why the $$$$$$$ for the engines being redone and boosted a bit, and he still has the crappy old stock ex. manifolds on it???

But if I were in the market for one, it would be one that I would investigate for sure.
