Any thoughts,, good or bad. I am shopping for a 29 outlaw, and a few have this engine option. I would assume they are better on fuel, but lower on torque.

not as great on fuel as you think, seeing that cruising and top speed RPM are going to be a lot higher. Plus the 29OL is a big 29 boat for twin smalls IMO.
I really don't think it is much more, if it was I think you would see a huge rush of new 29 + sport boats with twin 383 mercs.
If you want to save on fuel, just don't buy a boat at all

When you are dealing with twin engine big crafts that cruise getting 1.3 MPG, what is the benefit of getting maybe 1.5-1.6 MPG and losing all the power. I know some of these small blocks make some decent HP, but you have to factor the Tourqe of a BB as well. Tourqe gets you out of the hole, on plane fast and keeps the RPMs low at cruising speed.

ZX14,
What are you looking for? I have an 01 with 496 HO's that I might be interested in moving. Here is a link, if you have any interest PM me. Thanks.
