Erie is a beast that is forsure! That is why I am looking to go bigger. Although I have made my way to the islands from Toledo several times.
I have never seen them side by side but by pictures, isn't the 29 ol a lot bigger than the 292?

I have seen them side by side and driven both. The 29 Outlaw is much bigger physicaly than the 292. The 29 is s true 29 foot boat plus the add on swim platform. The 292 is closer to a 27 foot running surface with the integral swim platform. The Outlaw has a larger cabin as well as a much deeper freeboard.

As with any of these comparison threads, for the most part it is just opinion banter thrown back and forth. The only way to tell which boat is the best for you is to drive them and find out for yourself.

THATS BECAUSE ITS A 86 ,A LOT OF BOATS MADE IN THE 80s were screwed in to the floor which will pull out over 20yrs.plus they only used about 4 to 6 screws per seat back then and bolted the side to the gunnel which a lot of companies do to day which sucks. my new race bolsters have 20 screws or bolts which ever you want to use. you can pull the middle floor up unscrew it and put a star nut so you will be bolting the seat down or glass a 2x4 over the old holes then when you put the longer lag bolts in the seat is going no wear. if you want to read about floor replacement, stringer , bulkhead just look at jons in the Q A FORUM I brought it to the top you can see what I have been talking about pulling the mid floor up then glass the wood covered in glass hope that helps. sounds like BUZZARDS BAY we have the ocean coming straight in with sw winds it goes from deep water out at the mv 100s of ft to like 50ft we get real 4 to 6s 8 to 10s standing straight up it funnels down to the cape cod canal like a sugar cone goes from 5 miles across to 300ft at the cannal:eek: no swells there:eek: swells you go to cape cod bay:cool: snot MV, nantucket sounds They cannceled the offshore races in 04 here and in 02 boats were smash up and sinking yellow fountian race boat.

I know its old, thats one reason, I plan to cut the floor and back it up from under to fix it.

you should be able to un screw the mid section. if your seats are tied in to the solid part of the floor just cut a 6''hole under the seat dig out some foam:rolleyes: and then you can use a backer plate or glass a 2x4 in place. also drill out the old holes fill with filler and glass redrill unless your floor is soft. after the 6'' hole is done you can glass it back if you went with the 2x4 if not you need to just install 2 excess white plates you know what I mean:p the round ones that unscrew. thats a easy way if the floors are good with 20 mounting holes in my race bolsters they aren't moving even if I AM RACING AGAIN COMING OFF A 10 WAVE like at the cape race when we made the move for 2nd place:rolleyes: and brused my navs ribs:rolleyes: oh well. art
