pre-99 delamination issues?
What models and whats the issue, and where do you look for it? Is it really an issue?
|
So I guess I was mistaken? good...... I am looking at a 98
|
a few had a stringer problem crack in the glass, thats all I recall 2 on the this board stress cracks I have seen in all boats, when you run them hard in big seas gel will crack some times even in cigs:p . art

Sorry I have never heard of any delamination issues.
There was a problem with gel coat blistering in the 90's but that was resolved and is old news. It was caused by a cleaning agent used in the paint guns that was not compatible with the gel coat. |

Hey Dock, a guy at my marina has a 98 36 Outlaw, never been kept in the water and is CLEAN. I noticed the other day that he had blisters on the side and all over the transom. He is selling and i was just looking it over. Couldn't believe it, is such a clean boat. I was trying to figure out how it happened, guess I know now.
I don't understand why he did not get it fixed way back when Baja identified the problem and was doing warranty repairs? |

I would have to agree that this was damaged and then not repaired correctly. That is one of the risks of buying a used boat that you do not know. I have never seen this before and we are dealing with a boat that is now 15 years old. I would think that a factory defect would have showed up much sooner. Makes you wonder why the boat was for sale? Take care buddy. Dock |

yeap me too. I heard of cracks in a 29ol inside stringer back then. and after 19yrs I need a bulkhead replacement, behind the seat, I figure I TOOK IT OUT SO MANY TIMES PLAYING WITH MOTORS NOT LINING UP THE SCREW HOLES WASHING IT DOWN IN SIDE DUR,, ALL SO had a hatch seal go needed to replace some balsa and glass under the deck. but thats it, so I spent a 1g on the repair by the hatch. but I am making 3 custom bulkheads one in back where the seat was, one going under to the cabin I want to put custom leg molds in for sit down racing in p6 or5. and one extra bulkhead in the v up front. I don't want to rip the nose off playing with the big boats on the poker runs. unless it looks like this winter I can buy a joker, then I will fix the rear and sell it minus power or with a stock motor. I figure my motor is worth as much as the boat with a stock motor. yeah so that boat hit something a long time ago and not fixed right. hey anyone have a extra knee:D art
