Sorry I have never heard of any delamination issues.

There was a problem with gel coat blistering in the 90's but that was resolved and is old news. It was caused by a cleaning agent used in the paint guns that was not compatible with the gel coat.

Hey Dock, a guy at my marina has a 98 36 Outlaw, never been kept in the water and is CLEAN. I noticed the other day that he had blisters on the side and all over the transom. He is selling and i was just looking it over. Couldn't believe it, is such a clean boat. I was trying to figure out how it happened, guess I know now.

this guy bought the boat used from Grand Sport and 1 week later. Could have been from a crappy repair before he bought it.

I don't understand why he did not get it fixed way back when Baja identified the problem and was doing warranty repairs?

Hey Dave,

I would have to agree that this was damaged and then not repaired correctly. That is one of the risks of buying a used boat that you do not know. I have never seen this before and we are dealing with a boat that is now 15 years old. I would think that a factory defect would have showed up much sooner. Makes you wonder why the boat was for sale?

Take care buddy.

The only thing this thread shows (and I read the entire thing) is that a guy hit a deadhead in the area of a previous crappy repair that caused the area to delaminate due to that repair. Plus, it seems as if he purchased a used boat without a survey.
