Donny,

With 454's I don't think you will see any higher speeds. I have a friend that had a 29 with the same power and his was a 65 MPH boat.

You always want to prop your boat so that it will spin the props up to the maximum RPM range of the engine. If you are at 5000 now then you are there.

You can have some of the shops look at yours and maybe some cup will reduce slip giving you a MPH or two more.

Just always remember that if you are spinning a prop at the max RPM then you probably cannot spin a larger prop without adding more horsepower.

I'm not sure if that is correct, Dock. My 29 has 7.4MPI's with 23 Mirages and runs 65 @ 4500 RPM. If I went down to say, 20's wouldn't it still run 4500 RPM but at a much slower speed (like going to a steeper rear end gear in your car)? I would think that it would just get there quicker if you were under propped.

I ran labbed 26" on my 29 Outlaw with the same power. I ran a best of 74 & a daily of 71.
I had 1" IMCO shorties on it, but my boat was set-up with a low x-dimension from the get-go.
If the 3 blades are faster & you don't want to have a good mid-range/cruise. Go with the 3 blades.
Your boat may be set-up with a low x-dim & if that is the case, a 3 blade will work better.
FYI, don't let anyone tell you that anything over 14% slip is acceptable for a 29 Baja Outlaw.
I have less than 11% on my 29 with 3" shortys & extension boxes.

I do also think that possibly my speedo might be off too...I'm not using the factory hookup speedo, the ones that run through the drives, that didn't work, So I hooked up an external hookup speedo that says its good to 80mph...it reads out but it might be off some...I'm gonna buy a handheld gps and see how accurate the speedo actually is...

GPS speedo is the only way to go.

This boat must not have been proped right I guess.

A friend that had a 272 when we also had one upgraded to this boat used out of Michigan and got a real good deal on it but the boat was slow. I could hang with him all day long in my 272 w/ 502 mag.

Glad to hear they are running faster.

I was able to pull about 5000 RPMS before Which what these engines are rated at but I was only doing about 66-67 mph...
Someone had told me that moving up to the 26P Bravo 1's would do the trick...
DEF not right! I just bought a set of 26P Bravo 1's (which are for sale now) and just got back from the lake...was Barely able to pull 4000 RPM's and couldn't even hardly get to 60mph trimmed and everything...

Need some help guys...What Do I do now...I've seen some guys runnin' 25P Labbed 3 Blade Mirage's and pulling about 72-73 On same boat that I have...Is that what I need?

Thanks any help is appreciated!

Donny

Wow I guess every boat is different. I run 26 Bravo 1s on my 29 w/454 mags and see 69-72 GPS at 4850-4900 depending on air temps ,load and water. I posted on the other thread about props. I have a set of 25 Mirages.
