I had an '89 GX 219 sport cuddy. 454mag. Ran 70mph on the lie-o-meter! Probably 66ish. Looked very sharp for the day. It spanked the Pachangas running with me.!!

Sunbird--don't remember who made them but they had a small performance boat--20' and 22' I think with a big block Chevy.

I like the topic but think the question needs to be more clear. Are you looking for performance only brands that have gone out of business, changed owners, or changed their overall business? and for good or poor?
Magnum started out with a 27ft race boat after a few owners they now make their money on 90ft yachts.
Cigarette has had more owners than Magnum but now they not only build a European express cruiser they also market a 55ft yacht that they don't even build themselves.

the1st41 03-24-2008 11:16 AM

Bertram went from race boat to fishing yacht

It is not the same company. Midnights used to be hardcore closed deck I/o performance boats back during the miami vice days........

Dock Holiday 03-24-2008 02:36 PM

Well the list is growing and there may be more out of business, or out of the performance business then there are brands still in business!

IMP

Here's some information on IMP that I copied off the general forum.

IMP was Iola Molded Plastics. Iola Kansas. they had many owners over the years and the IMP stood for many things.
International Marine Products and the best was It Might Plane.
